What is this lump?

It appeared at the side of my head on the left side, close to the hairline a week or two ago. It doesn’t hurt, sort of itches around it sometimes. It’s hard, not moveable and is red, I think becoming redder, not sure. It’s just appeared out of nowhere, should I be worried?

Possibly a Campbell de Morgan developing.
I have a lot of them.
Harmless but annoying

Sounds like a breed of dog.

Gladreel · 18/07/2023 21:31

Looks like a wart or a mole to me but I'm no doctor. Get it checked, only way to find out really. I doubt it's anything sinister.

Whatisitthen · 18/07/2023 21:29

@Elisheva Do you think it’s something bad?

Honestly? No. Skin cancer doesn't just pop-up overnight.

That said, asking the pharmacist is a good idea. It will put your mind at ease.

NoTMyNamea · 18/07/2023 21:35

Could be a tick!

Whataretheodds · 18/07/2023 21:36

Mole
Wart
Zit

Hard to tell

Whatisitthen · 18/07/2023 21:37

@NoTMyNamea Its a red lump? How can that be a tick?

Whatisitthen · 18/07/2023 21:38

@GulfCoastBeachGirl Ok thank you

Whatisitthen · 18/07/2023 21:39

@MissHoollie Thanks for the feedback, after Googling they look redder than this I think, this is a paler red and a bit larger

@NoTMyNamea Its a red lump? How can that be a tick?

Because the tick is under it🙈 Google is your friend if you want to know more. Ticks love the scalp and hairline.

Whatisitthen · 18/07/2023 21:56

@NoTMyNamea I can’t Google that as I’ll freak myself out, how would it get out, would the pharmacist know this if she looked at it?

OP posts:
Whatisitthen · 18/07/2023 22:00

@NoTMyNamea It doesn’t seem to look like that 🤷🏻‍♀️I’m worried more about a skin cancer type thing

OP posts:
Elisheva · 18/07/2023 22:05

Any unusual skin growth should be checked by a GP if it hasn’t gone after 4 weeks.
It’s probably fine, but we can’t see it properly so everyone is just guessing.

Whatisitthen · 18/07/2023 22:20

@Elisheva So should I wait for a couple of weeks and if it goes, just forget about it, if not then head to the Doctors?

OP posts:
Knittedfairies · 18/07/2023 22:28

Go and see a pharmacist.

Elisheva · 18/07/2023 22:52

That’s what I would do.

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 18/07/2023 23:10

I wouldn't even go to the pharmacist tbh. Doesn't everyone get random spots and bumps and bruises like this?

Jillybloop393 · 19/07/2023 00:02

I don't want to alarm you, but I really think you should let your doctor take a look. I've had to have a couple of non healing lesions removed from my face over the last four years - tiny things, but I've ended up with three inch cuts! I've just discovered one in my hairline, and am so worried - I know it'll mean a patch of hair being removed 😞, but if it's skin cancer it should be dealt with. I hope yours isn't - but it does look similar.

Whatisitthen · 19/07/2023 00:28

@Jillybloop393Mine looks like skin cancer? Should I wait 2 weeks as suggested above (4 weeks in total) or go now?

OP posts:
Jillybloop393 · 19/07/2023 00:33

Try not to panic ... it's new, and don't forget - I only said it looks similar, it might well be something absolutely harmless. Mine were a 'type of skin cancer', but the cause was sun damage. To put your mind at rest, make an appointment with your doctor. He may send you to a dermatologist if he thinks it's anything sinister, and they'll do the necessary. Make that appointment, sweetie, then you won't be worried xx

Whatisitthen · 19/07/2023 08:01

Thank you 😊

SaulHudsonDavidJones · 19/07/2023 17:59

Looks exactly like the 2 moles on my head (that I hate but have had forever).

Whatisitthen · 19/07/2023 21:36

@SaulHudsonDavidJones Its only just appeared though and is red

Mollymalone123 · 19/07/2023 22:08

Moles continue to appear and grow for years and years.and when they are new they can alter colour until they have appeared completely.if it’s itching still in a couple of weeks the you can always take another photo ( keep the better ones you have taken) for comparison and ask your see gp.it really doesjust look like a mole to me

Whatisitthen · 19/07/2023 22:10

@Mollymalone123 But are moles red?

OP posts:
Humidititties · 19/07/2023 22:11

It could be anything, nobody here knows. Just go to the pharmacist in the morning
