To be concerned at the councils excuse ?

So I have a lot of problems with mould and damp in my property. I've made complaints and surveyor been out and ordered just minimal work but none of it is getting done

Anyway I had a repair due yesterday for them to install some air bricks to help with ventilation, and I got a reminder text the night before saying the time was 8am-11am and I moved all furniture in the bedrooms so they had Full access to the wall they working on.

Anyway this appointment has been cancelled already previously they did the sale thing and this time again no one turned up. I rang and she said to give till 12 so I did, I rang back and she said actually no the appointment is actually 2-5 so at 4:30 I called back and said I'd someone deffo coming coz I've waited in all day and the call centre staff said these words:

'A family member of yours has called us and spoken to a male colleague of its and said you want these works cancelled because your going to be doing it all yourself'

THIS IS A LIE! No family Member or myself said his and now I'm really concerned! So the job was cancelled and no work has been rebooked back in because they think I'm doing it myself. I've worked so hard to send complaints to get his work ordered and now this!! So obv the council are telling lies as the only family I have who knows about my life is my mum ( no it's not her she wouldn't do it we are close and she wouldn't even know where to find the phone number as she's not tech savvy)

The only other person who I could suspect is my abusive ex husband because he knew about this particular job because our 17 year old told him she was helping me upstairs because we have work men coming to do air bricks she told him innocently in conversation but I don't know why he would actually do that

So what would you do about this? I've made a formal complaint but they have been ignoring every communication about these works so far! I can't go to the ombudsman until my complaint has been acknowledge and reaches stage 3

Is it wrong for them to bare face lie just to get out of doing the works or could someone have actually maliciously rang up? The call centre staff said she will get a manager to listen back to the call but I don't hold our much hope over that

Looks like I'm gonna have to continued to live in a mouldy house

The calls should be recorded. Ask for a transcript of the call

ForeverFriendsAndPierrot · 18/07/2023 18:42

So the council were doing the job?

Is it a council property?

inthedarkx · 18/07/2023 18:44

@MansfieldLark thanks I'll request this!
@ForeverFriendsAndPierrot
The council have a contractor to do the works, yea it's a council property but no works are getting done appointments are being messed up or not attended and now I've been told they've been cancelled because a family member rang up cancelling them on my half! Why would the say that? Is that even legal to lie like that

I doubt they’re lying, isn’t it more likely it’s your ex messing with you? Does he have form for that?

ForeverFriendsAndPierrot · 18/07/2023 18:51

It's possible they got you mixed up

Hellocatshome · 18/07/2023 18:51

Either your ex is doing it or the computer system is wrong somehow. Are there two streets with similar names etc?

It is very unlikely they are lying. The amount of effort it would take to decide to lie (who would have the authority to decide to do this) then update the system to record the lie, then cover up the lie is more than just doing the work in the first place.

GDPR breach as you are the tenant and no one else can speak to them or cancel without your explicit permission as you should have to verify who you are when calling regarding your tenancy. Any old Tom, Jack or Harry cannot just call and cancel appointments. Write them a complaint detailing all the no show appointments and call their bluff mentioning GDPR and the cancellation.
