Hi, I’m in between graduating from uni and starting my new job. I’m currently working in my part time student job (earning 600 ish a month) but obviously when I start my graduate job I’ll be earning a lot more

I’ve seen a car at a well known garage/dealer and decided I’d like to go ahead and get it on HP finance. But I just had a sudden concern- would I qualify since I’ve not yet got a full time income? I can absolutely afford it but wasn’t sure if I would need to show proof of earnings which obviously I don’t have for my full time grad job, just my part time student job. My parents would be happy to be down as guarantors if that would make a difference.

does anyone know anything about this and could offer advice please? Thanks so much!

It’s not the same as a mortgage- they can’t check income. You just write down what your job is. So as long as your credit is ok, and you can actually afford it, you should be fine.

Getting the finance through the garage could be costly though. Could you look into getting a 0% credit card and pay that off instead?
