Caitlin Moran Book Tour

AIBU to have expected more? Ok, I know she's a journalist first and foremost, but I have always founder to be a witty and amusing feminist social commentator. I travelled 90 miles to see her in conversation on her recent book tour. The "conversation" was supposed to last 90 minutes. It was over in 60 mins, the next 15 being given over to questions from the audience - we were still a good 15 mins short of the billed show. The whole tone of the "conversation" was very superficial and she brought out all the same old tropes - urinals, men's colourless clothing, girls are supportive of each other but boys have to "banter". So tired, unoriginal, unchallenging and not even amusing (I could forgive the sloppy thinking if she'd at least have provided a giggle or two). AIBU to expect a £26 performance to have been a bit more than an advert for what would appear to be a trivial book? Anyone else out there see the tour?

Seeing her on tour actually put me off her. She was awful.

Ive seen a few people on talking tours but they always fill the time well (Brian Cox, the physicist, is especially great) but when I saw CM I was like ‘I’d that it?’ Very disappointed.

Tbf, that's exactly what I would expect from Caitlin Moran.

I heard her promoting her book on two different radio programmes. Doesn’t surprise me she was crap on tour.

Writes really well, boring as hell, trots out the same old stuff time after time.

But incredibly successful so what do I know 🤣

Her brand of feminism hasn't gone anywhere or said anything since 2012.

I've enjoyed reading some of the reviews for her new book. Utterly panned.

I'm afraid that's all she's capable of OP, she's about as deep as a puddle...

It's the same old trope she's been on about for years, I can't believe she got a book deal (and presumably a hefty fee) when there are probably loads of great female writers out there who are struggling to get signed.

So not just me then, that's a relief! Nobody in the audience gave the slightest indication of disappointment. Needless to say I didn't buy the book after I'd heard her talk.
