Pushy car dealer

Trying to buy a second-hand car.

Been browsing dealers online, found a car we were interested in, asked to go along this morning for a test drive. They said fine, but just so you know, someone else is coming to look at it at 3pm.

This was a couple of days ago - they have just called to 'remind' us, as apparently this other person is now coming at 2pm.

It all feels quite pushy and rushed. Is this... normal? I sort of feel like I am being strong-armed into making a quick decision, but as I say, have never done this before.

I feel like it would be better not to go, and maybe just go to a bigger dealer and browse more first. AIBU? WWYD?

YANBU. I’d cancel the test drive and say you feel rushed by the implied ‘competition’ for the car.

He’s trying to make you panic and buy the car before the other non-existent “competitor” snaps it up. Don’t fall for that BS - take your business somewhere else.

It’s not nice but very common. Typical behaviour from a lot of dealers. We’ve had this sort of experience from big brands as well as generic dealers/motor stores.

I would still go for a test drive but if you want time to think on it then do that. Yes the car could go, but that can happen anywhere.
