I know it's not a genuine AIBU but I desperately need some advice from more experienced mum's than me.

15 month old has been sick for a while. Started off as mucus and cough. We brought to GP at 2 weeks as cough was persisting and baby had been miserable for the second week, very lethargic and had coughed so hard she threw up, more mucus than actual stomach contents. Checked test, all clear. A few days later she had a rash so we had to call again, sent in photos doctor said it's a viral infection.

They called back to check up on Thursday, was actually on way to collect child from nursery as she had diarrhea. Explained to gp who again said it was a virus and all we could do is grin and bare through. Since then, baby is much happier more her playful self and eating more. But every night since Thursday she has had coughing fits and she has properly vomited. Happened tonight once we had put her down, I heard coughing and decided to check camera, by the time I went into the room she had rolled onto it and was sucking her thumb to go to sleep.

I'm reluctant to go to gp again to be told it's 'just a cough.' Is this normal? Has anyone been through similar? Should I just call again?

Personally, I wouldn't bother GP again yet OP, I know how nerve wracking these things can be, but if she's fine during the day and only coughs and vomits at night, it would seem likely that the remainder of the mucus settles on her chest when you lay her down and the coughing and being sick is getting it up and getting it out of her system. As I say, this is just my thoughts on the subject, but you might find someone comes along in a minute with other ideas or more experience of this actual situation. Hope she's soon back to her normal self.
