If you are having a mid afternoon slump or just a tired day does anything work for you to perk yourself up? It’s at times like this I wish I drank coffee!!

I struggle too always between 2.30/3pm to around 7pm. Drives me mad, I've tried caffeine, no caffeine, excerise, fresh air still can't find anything that works.

Elephantinasandstorm · 15/07/2023 16:12

Nap

BuffyTheCat · 15/07/2023 16:22

A walk around the block. If I’m too tired for a walk, then a nap.

DustyLee123 · 15/07/2023 16:23

I do find that if I force myself out for a walk, I come back feeling energised.

ymemanresu · 15/07/2023 16:24

Berrocca is good

Haruka · 15/07/2023 16:43

Work needs. Going outside for the sunlight. Sugar (just be careful there that you don't fall into the slump later). Exercise to get your heartrate going. Hydration.

But mostly, it's about a healthy lifestyle.

I had much more energy when I didn't really drink alcohol apart from the very odd glass once a month, stuck to one dose of caffeine (mine are energy drinks, but can be coffee), walked everywhere, exercised regularly and stuck to a decent sleep schedule.

It also helps doing anything out of your normal routine, so find a new hobby, new people, do anything at all different and you will feel less tired.

BellaJuno · 15/07/2023 16:45

A can of Coke if I can’t do some exercise.

monpetitlapin · 15/07/2023 16:47

Bugger all the woo woo nonsense and quick fixes, the real secret is to eat well consistently with the right amounts of the right things and those slumps stop.

FannyJoan · 15/07/2023 16:49

if I can't have a nap then ginger tea perks me up.

Redburnett · 15/07/2023 16:50

Exercise, anything. Just get up and do something: a walk, a few squats or wall presss ups, a bit of gardening - obviously i always take my own advice..........or I would not be writing here......

HappiDaze · 15/07/2023 16:50

A glass of water

hettiethehare · 15/07/2023 16:51

Proper cat nap.

AwfulTed · 15/07/2023 16:55

Floradix or other vitamin supplement every morning totally stopped my 3 pm slump! Worth a try

Badbudgeter · 15/07/2023 16:57

8 minute nap, raise your feet above your head for it. Then an effervescent vit c tablet in a glass of water.

fetchacloth · 15/07/2023 16:59

A glass of water

Same here, makes a big difference 😁

What's the benefit of raising your feet?

Mumtothreegirlies · 15/07/2023 17:54

A pint of water

Sprinkles211 · 15/07/2023 18:04

Rub Vicks under your eyes brilliant for staying awake on a night shift 🤣

vdbfamily · 15/07/2023 18:05

Cold shower every morning 😊

yellowsmileyface · 15/07/2023 18:07

It seems counterintuitive but I do really find going for a walk helps. A mixture of the exercise and fresh air really perks me up.

I also find having a filling and healthy lunch, something high in protein, reduces the likelihood of the afternoon crash.

I've never in my life woken from a nap more energized. I really wish I was the kind of person who could benefit from a power nap but I only ever wake up more groggy and tired!

ThinWomansBrain · 15/07/2023 18:10

A nap ideally - burst of fresh air if not.

if it happens regularly, try avoiding carby lunches.

A can of Coke if I can’t do some exercise.

I read that as ‘a line of coke’! That would certainly give you some mid-afternoon energy!

towriteyoumustlive · 15/07/2023 18:24

Fresh air. Some physical activity even if I don't feel like it.

Put some happy music on and dance!

QwertyWitch · 15/07/2023 18:25

Floradix, reduced carb, water and getting enough sleep.
