Legoland Windsor queues

How bad are they on your average summer Saturday? I've booked to go and hoping for an access pass due to autism but if I don't get one how bad is it?

thepresureofausername · 15/07/2023 13:15

It's awful I'm afraid

AutisticLegoLover · 15/07/2023 13:16

How long is the average wait time?

Go on a rainy day - one that's been forecast wet for a while, and the queues are a lot less, as it puts passholders off. So long as you've wet weather gear you'll be fine and have a great time.

benecarlos · 15/07/2023 13:22

Very long if you don't have the queue jump passes over an hour for even the smallest of ride when we went and 2 hours for the bigger ones - loads of people had the queue jump passes so no space on the ride for those without - this was summer holiday weekend though

wholivesondrurylane · 15/07/2023 13:26

download the legoland app, you should have access to the live queue times

thepresureofausername · 15/07/2023 13:26

Depends on the ride but I'd say 30 minute minimum for any ride, can be over an hour for the popular ones.
Last summer we waited 45 mins to buy an ice cream.
It's a great place, we frequently go on school days when the waits are tiny but Saturdays in the summer are hell on earth for me.

Thepeopleversuswork · 15/07/2023 13:33

I was there yesterday and they actually weren’t as bad as I feared. Average about 15 minutes, longest 40 minutes. Admittedly it was a rainy Friday. I dare say Saturday is much worse.

Sceptre86 · 15/07/2023 13:38

As a pp said download the app so you can see live wait times. It's always going to be high on a Saturday as kids are off and it's popular with tourists too. Ideally you'd go during term time and get there as soon as the park opens to hit the more popular rides but appreciate that might not be possible.

heartofglass23 · 15/07/2023 13:41

If you hate queues don't go.

You have to embrace queues at theme parks. With DCs use screens/games to amuse them. For you take a book. Have no shame in sitting. Take a pack lunch and eat in the queues.

Arrive 45 mins before park opening. You will have minimal queueing for 1st 2/3 rides. Go straight to dragon if doing that.

Download the app. Look at queue times now for a Saturday. Learn what the times are for different rides and how far apart they are to plan your day.

The last 1/2 hour of the day tends to have short queues too. Esp for rides at the back of the park.

Do the shop when it's busiest, not at the end.

RecycleMePlease · 15/07/2023 13:52

Bloody awful.

Agree with heart of glass though above me - you can get in 2-3 if you're first in, then watch the app.

Luckily my kids weren't interested in the 'big' rides, but we were so disappointed in the short log flume after queuing for 2 hours!

The water park was worth the wait though - kids loved it, and looking at all the lego mini buildings bit.

Also, shopping - check against the prices in the online store - I know they want souvenirs, but DS2 got a lucky cat which cost nearly twice in the shop vs. what it does from the Lego store online.

Simplelobsterhat · 15/07/2023 14:06

We were there last Sunday and Monday. It was busy. The Monday was actually worse than the Sunday, I guess due to insets, private schools having broken up etc. If we'd only had one day I think we would have cracked and bought reserve and rides.

We used the app to see when queues not as bad (although it wasn't always accurate ) and made a conscious decision to decide if we thought the queue was worth it or not eg we didn't go in the pirate log flume at all as usually 90 minute queues. I don't think we queued more than 45 for anything, although I wasn't timing as I think that would drive me mad! The second day we were there before opening and got 3 rides done in first hour, and then relaxed a bit more. It definitely gets busier after 11. I think we counted 16 rides between us in total over 2 days plus pirate show, 4d cinema, Ferrari building, miniland, mythica forest, drench towers, play areas etc, so I'd count that as worth it. They were full on tiring days though!

But if you are only interested in the rides, not exploring the Lego models etc I wouldn't bother this time of year. And don't have your heart set on one particular ride - there might be huge queues or some close eg we couldn't do viking river as it was only open a couple of hours the whole 2 days we were there.

Take food and drink so that's one less thing to queue for (we only bought ice creams there but took us ages!), And you can eat in queues or watching pirate show for time saving.

We LOVED Flight of the Sky Lion. Did that twice - the second day we ran straight there and got on 2nd ride of the day. With that the queues look long, and ride / changeover time is long, but they fit about 70 + people on at once so it moves quicker than it looks. Laser raiders a d the Ninjago rude were both things we were glad we did early in the day as the queues were really long later. The dragon was probably what we queued longest (twice ) for bit it was never more than an hour on the app and often a lot less.

Simplelobsterhat · 15/07/2023 14:09

You can download the app now to see queue times on any given day, but I would add an extra 10 or 20% to what they say on there.

modgepodge · 15/07/2023 14:16

I imagine dreadful . I went on Monday, we got there before opening and did a few rides in the first 2 hours. Then from 12 onwards everything had a queue of 30mins plus, even little rides. The app was useless too, with queue times complete nonsense. We walked across the park to go to the submarine which the app said was a 10 minute queue only to find when we got there it was almost an hour. So we hot footed to the tiny children’s train which said it had a 5 minute queue and waited half an hour. Also waited 20 mins for a ice cream. This was on a term time weekday!

also the Viking river splash has not been open once in the 4 times I’ve been since April. My daughter is too short for it so it doesn’t affect us but nothing on the site to say it is closed now, I’d be majorly irritated if she was big enough though!

AutisticLegoLover · 15/07/2023 14:29

I've got tickets for a Saturday so Saturday it is. It sounds like it might be rather stressful and disappointing especially if the Viking river ride is closed.

ARRGHHHHHxxxxx · 15/07/2023 14:45

I went on a Saturday and Flight of the Sky Lion was around an hour an a half wait. I've been on a weekday when the schools were open and the same ride was still about 45 minutes long. Some were 15 minutes but the weekend time we went we had to queue for ages for each ride.

Simplelobsterhat · 15/07/2023 14:47

Go with lowered expectations, get there early, and you'll have fun! Fingers crossed you get the ride pass. If not prioritise what's worth queuing for and just enjoy the rest of the park other than that. Using the AR function on the app to bring the mythica creatures to life for example.

StillWantingADog · 15/07/2023 14:47

I can report back later in the summer but I am going to the one in Billund instead specially because I can’t bear queues and I’m told it’s much better there (plus the Danish kids are back at school mid august).
yes it’s expensive but ryanair there and back was cheap. Cheaper than travel from here to Windsor.

buzzlightyearsgloves · 15/07/2023 15:01

We went in May and it was raining. The dragon ride was the longest at 1 hour 15 minutes long, the ninja and laser rides were about 40 minutes by the afternoon. We got there to queue for it opening and got a good 2-3 rides in the first hour done. Just go for the experience, thankfully DC was amazed by everything not just the rides so we weren't disappointed but I'd say we only covered half the rides in a full day.

Addymontgomeryfan · 15/07/2023 15:03

Honestly, don't pay attention to the app too much. We learnt that after queueing 2 hours for a ride that said 20 minutes, and then 5 minutes for a ride that said 40 minutes.

Viking River splash was open last weekend if that helps.

AutisticLegoLover · 17/07/2023 13:57

I've applied for an Access pass and hope that is successful. I'm glad looking forward to it and half stressed out about it! It's going to be great I'm sure as we are huge Lego fans and have never been before. Ds knows we won't get on everything and needs to choose what he wants to go on most.

Have you visited yet, OP?

I have an Access Pass and am visiting soon. Any tips would be great Smile

Itsacebeingme · 02/08/2023 22:21

Don't want to put a downer on it but the Ride Access Pass line was disastrous at Alron Towers for us in April. Yes it was a Bank Holiday weekend but the lines were longer than the normal queue many of the rides. We paid for fast track also as it was intolerable with ND teens. Hope you have a better experience.

Bluestoat · 02/08/2023 22:25

We went today and it was fine! The flight of the lion ride had a 20 min q. We’ve queued 90 mins for that before. Other thinks like Ninjago and haunted house and mias horse ride were about 30 mins. May have helped there was a weather warning in place and we could have swam home it was that wet!

Spareincoming · 02/08/2023 22:45

@StillWantingADog We’ve been to Billund in the height of the Danish summer hols and it’s incomparable to Windsor; the maximum queue was about 15 minutes on a “busy day” by the park staff’s standards.

HumphreysCorner · 03/08/2023 21:28

We bought online tickets and queued for hours as many of the booths were shut
