Had vertigo symptoms last week. Physio friend did manoeuvre to stop this. Vertigo went but felt dizzy ever since.

Felt okay yesterday, getting on with work fine no problems. Then come 15.00 felt very cold, shivering and just felt generally unwell. Had a hot bath and couldn't get warm, even to the point of still shivering with goosebumps.

Went to bed and the top of my legs ached , still felt shivery, dizzy and vision started to go funny. Felt very concerned at this point and was on the verge of calling 111. Decided to try and sleep it off.

Went to sleep at around 20.00 and woke again around 21.30 was sweating and very hot, went to go toilet and front of head was pounding, almost like a migraine but with no light or noise sensitivity. Took some co-codamol and went back to bed waking every 2 - 3 hours sweating and in pain.

Woke up this morning and still feel hot buy eith no trip, still achy in legs and also in arms and neck. Don't feel unwell just a bit off, dizzy and tired.

Tried to do some work from bed this morning and was completely using the wrong words when writing, so instead of writing 'it was a sunny day with clouds in the sky' was writing 'it was a nice sunny day woth clouds in the time'

Has anyone experienced this, should I be concerned?

Can burnout and overdoing it cause the symptoms?

I'm one of these people that hates going to the GP as fear they will just say nothing is wrong and look badly upon me for waisting there time (called them about my vertigo last week and pretty much got told there was nothing they can do anyway)

I would call 111 for advice. You are not wasting anyone's time getting hearthcare advice when you feel unwell!

Tiredjoanna · 15/07/2023 11:43

Go back to GP as it's not just vertigo anymore. These other symptoms sound more worrying. Don't let yourself be fobbed off

stayclosetoyourself · 15/07/2023 11:46

Take your temperature. It sounds like you have a fever. Feeling shivery and cold is something called a rigor and often means a high temperature spike. Pls seek medical attention as it could be anything from a uti to virus to covid to sepsis.

In short, call the doctor today and get seen.

This could be a million things from a mild flu-type virus to an ear infection to a UTI to an upcoming migraine. You are obviously not well, as you’re feeling feverish dizzy, and I’d suggest calling 111 for some advice. Make sure you tell them about mixing your words up etc as well as the physical symptoms - although if you’re exhausted and feverish that isn’t uncommon.

Get some rest too. You’re ill. You are allowed to go to bed with a soothing podcast or an audiobook or watch a cosy film. Don’t just try to press on regardless when your body’s clearly telling you not to.

Could it be Covid?
There seems to be a lot of different symptoms nowadays...I felt sick and giddy and was eventually sick. Went to bed was hot and sweaty eventually took a test which confirmed it.

stayclosetoyourself · 15/07/2023 11:59

Let up know how you get on OP, should have said I'm medical, get seen!

What manoeuvre did the physio friend do?
There are some brutal moves that are doing the rounds on SM that can actually cause more problems than they solve.

Or you could be coming down with something.

Either way you need to ring 111 and get checked out.

I don't want to scare you but feel I need to comment- my ex partner has these exact same symptoms, even to the writing emails and getting the words wrong, he had encephalitis and needed urgent medical attention. I think this warrants A&E personally.

TryAgainAnotherDay · 15/07/2023 12:31

Waiting a call back from a clinician

I also think you should go to A&E even if it turns out to be a waisted journey

TryAgainAnotherDay · 15/07/2023 18:22

Informed its probably a virus and if I don't feel better by Monday to go to my GP
