... to find summer holidays soooo exhausting?!

Not mainland UK so have already been off for 3 weeks... it's absolute bloody torture. I flag by 2pm each day and want to curl up in a ball and be left alone. Up early, constant begging for sweets/snacks, asking what to do. Putting effort into a day out and it rains etc. My kids are 2, 4 and 8. Please tell me I'm not the only one?!

Yanbu. I have always found the six week holiday absolutely relentless

Moonsun88 · 14/07/2023 19:25

Just think you've got 3 weeks left. We haven't even started yet. You are definitely not alone.

Caspianberg · 14/07/2023 19:28

@Moonsun88 - not a chance, we have 10 weeks off here! So end of June- mid September.

I try and take Ds out or do something that requires more energy in the mornings. It’s much cooler then, and we haven’t flagged yet. After lunch just potter more, garden, paddling pool. Then it’s 6pm and dh is finished to help wear him out the next few hours.

mamatoTails · 14/07/2023 19:28

Absolutely! We live abroad and they get 11 weeks off, just at the end of week 3.

I should have said absolutely not being unreasonable! it's definitely exhausting!

God no it’s my favourite time of the year. We’ve been off for a week now and DH was away on business this week. He got back this evening and commented on how relaxed and happy I look (unlike my usual fallen apart self by Friday night) 🤣

sweetpea321123 · 14/07/2023 19:33

I definitely do not look relaxed right now!!!

Sadly there are about 7 weeks to go

I loved them so much when I worked term times. No morning stress, no rigid routine. Now I have to juggle work, not so much.

sweetpea321123 · 14/07/2023 19:38

Yes I should add... I work full time. But have been off for the last 10 days or so.

Oh I loved them so much when mine were little and I did term time only.

Whinge · 14/07/2023 19:51

Will they be going to holiday clubs? 10 weeks is a long time, and some time apart will be good for everyone.

goodkidsmaadhouse · 14/07/2023 19:56

Yes I should add I work term time only! I can see it’s a bit of a SSDD scenario if you’re doing the usual drop off pick up get tea into everyone make pack lunches.

sweetpea321123 · 14/07/2023 19:57

Yes I have holiday clubs booked for two days a week starting next week. But right now I'm feeling sooo disheartened by the burden of being a mum during the summer hols. I love my kids but I just want to run away!!

I honestly wouldn't mind if the weather was ok, would just take half days across the summer (which would be 17.5 days total) but every bloody day since the kids are on holiday ahs rained without fail! I just hate the weather here...impossible to plan anything too.

Workquestion11 · 14/07/2023 21:37

I really like them for the first day or two. Then it wears thin.
No holiday clubs. Had 4 days annual leave, the weather has gone to shit. Even on my day off they aren't keen to go far (don't drive and everything is a good hours walk/train away)
Most of their friends have gone abroad so they are indoors complaining
