Posting in AIBU for traffic .....

Has anyone ever taken it?

I tried it in recommendation for mood and energy levels and I swear it's making me feel depressed, sluggish, major brain fog.....😫

I've googled it and it does appear some people have an adverse reaction but obviously wanted to see if the wealth of knowledge that it Mumsnet have any opinions on it! 🤣

My partner has tried it and thinks it's marvellous I might add, but I really feel it should come with a health warning!!!!
I've tried taking it twice..... once was in the morning, then I next took it a few days later at night, but still felt awful and sluggish most of the following day despite a good sleep.

Opinions? Experiences???

I do love Lion’s mane. It’s true we all respond differently!

Ooh this is interesting. Currently suffering from post-viral fatigue after Covid. How much maca do you take and at what time of day?

1500mg a day. I take capsules rather than the powder though, as I hate the taste.

And in the mornings. I definitely find it gently energising too.

Thanks yes I remember not loving the taste.

I take it as a gummy supplement every day and it does help with relaxation and anxiety

blueleavesgreensky · 27/04/2025 19:54

I never feel anything from any supplements. I’m always amazed at how some people find they have been transformed I feel and experience nothing. Then after 6 months or so of taking something I run out and stop using it and I don’t notice anything from stopping either

I didn’t feel much of anything taking it. It made no difference to me

Same. Took it for a few months and noticed nothing so stopped.

"However I take maca regularly and definitely feel ongoing benefits from it. It took away my 'long covid' after my first infection as it regulated my thyroid and I think it's great for my stage in life, which I assume is premenopausal."

Isn't every woman before menopause premenopausal? Or did you mean peri-menopausal?

Do you have an oestrogen deficiency, as I believe that's what maca helps?

This is an interesting thread…I sleep like a baby when I take ashwaganda but have the weirdest, most vivid dreams. Conversely lion’s mane has no affect on me at all.
