I live next door but 1 to a young woman with 2 gorgeous dcats.
She works ft but has family check on the dcats every week day.
I am retired and have lots of time on my hands. I have 2 dcats and 1 ddog. I started feeding her dcats a couple of years ago. They are very timid compared to mine. Took me a while but with food and plenty of treats I had them coming in for breakfast every morning.. I even feed ddog outside now so they aren't scared off...As it was becoming quite costly feeding 4 I mentioned to YW how much they were costing me. She wasn't forthcoming with cash towards the food. In fact she asked that I didn't feed them. As she works all day I feel they need more company so have kept feeding them. Sadly 1 was ill YW told me. So I swapped their food and YW hasn't mentioned it since. To confirm to YW her dcats are neglected I told her other people in our cul-de-sac are fed up of them coming into their homes... Not sure if they are but feel she needs to either rehome them or give up work.. Aibu?

*Please read the OP's update before posting (heads up - this is a reverse)

This has happened to both me and my neighbour.
Me when we where moving and we where calling for our cat with treats and the neighbour popped his head round saying the cat was eating atm and normally comes for tea (he is free fed biscuits, 1 packet of meat a day and a stick treat at home) I was so livid. They had been feeding him the wrong food so the cat always had tummy issues!
My neighbour got a cat but a woman down the road kept feeding it tuna and said she would have the cat but neighbour can foot the vet bill. My poor neighbour had to give the cat back to the rescue as this woman would not stop feeding it!
Neither cat looked underweight (they where both big almost fat cats!) and where told to leave alone but just wouldn't!

???? So it's you who locks these cats out all day?

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 13/07/2023 13:30

Since this is an irritating reverse OP, I'll be just as irritating and point out that it is Grammar not Grammer Police.

Elephantinasandstorm · 13/07/2023 13:30

Ok someone is really bored today and keeps making up shite

Whichwhatnow · 13/07/2023 13:34

Well that was obviously a reverse - but I can believe it's a real situation. When I was small two of our neighbours had an almighty slanging match in the street after the cat that belonged to one neighbour and her family, but had been regularly being fed by the other neighbour, was run over. I was too young to remember but the argument was apparently over who got to bury the cat in their garden - all the while with the poor cat lying dead in the street and the kids of the original (actual) owner sobbing their eyes out.

People can be crazy.

Just because someone works doesn't mean they lock the cats out all day. They could have a catflap and be able to go in and out when they want. Or there could be a shed or garage for shelter

Afternoon everyone. We're getting a LOT of reports about this thread. We can see that the OP (who is a long term poster) has now updated to say that it's a reverse. We've added a note to your opening post, @Sadaboutdcatsnextdoor so that folk know to read your update before they rush to post. Hopefully this will stem the tide of reports we're receiving <crosses fingers>

Sadaboutdcatsnextdoor · 13/07/2023 13:36

Wish I could post her address so you can all go vent at her!
Won't be back as def not my intention to cause a shit show.

Where did OP say that they were locked out all day?? The only person who's mentioned them being locked out is you, in both your posts!

Superdupes · 13/07/2023 13:41

Send her a copy of Six Dinner Sid and stop with the reverses.

My dd's dcats. Sorry if that's an offence asking for support for someone else!

That isn't, but I can never understand why people post reverse threads. They're pointless, plus it means you're having to assume what the other person's viewpoint is. Much better to just post what's actually happened and doesn't result in people throwing angry comments at who they assume is the wrong-doer!
