To change the locks after the workmen are done?

Evening.

Asking here for the traffic.

Have just bought a new house.

For me #1 job was replace the locks.

But actually for the next week or so we have the option of leaving the workmen (getting some immediate work done while we stay elsewhere) a key so they can come and go and get the job done quicker while we aren't living there.

So I'm thinking to delay the locksmith until they're done? Right move do you think?

I would change locks once workmen have completely gone. also maybe consider those security keys that can't be replicated by any old key shop? I have ones that require a specific code to be copied but there are more secure options which require proof ID for copies/replacement. does mean you are in a load of trouble if you are locked out, but does make me feel safer.

Didn't that story crop up earlier in the thread? I honestly think that if I'd gone away and somebody had watered my plants I would know. I.e. they wouldn't be all dried up.
So I call bs

It's quite common thing. I gave neighbours key years ago and actually forget about it until we go away. Every time🤦

What's common? Neighbours coming in and watering plants without permission? Or neighbours having keys? We've given our neighbours a spare set, and it's proved very useful, more than once.

Having key. But tbh I would believe even the coming in!
