Contact with children after a PET scan

Hoping some other mums might have experience with this. I have a PET scan tomorrow and afterwards will be radioactive for 6 hours. I've been told I can't go within 2 metres of any children. I have two children. DS will be at home with DH all day. DD will be at her first ever transition day at secondary school, finishes at 3pm and DH needs to pick her up. DS is disabled/autistic and can't go with DH for pickup.

Two options: I get home by 3pm, hide in one room and attempt to keep DS away from me while DH is out on the school run (could be tricky as DS is very unpredictable)

Or, I hide out at the hospital - if they'll let me - and DH attempts to wrangle DS along to pickup, or find someone else to pick up DD.

We have friends who have offered to help, but DD is also autistic, quite anxious about secondary school, and we've been really trying to keep my cancer from distressing her too much. I really would have liked one of us to be there to pick her up after her first transition day.

No one except me or DH can watch DS, he's not ok to be left with anyone else.

Anyone else with experience??

It isn't ideal but I'd stay at the hospital either in a cafe or the carpark with a book until it's safe to go home. I've had a pet scan when DC were little so I know how hard it is. Your dh just needs to manage both DC for school pick up time.
Best of luck diagnosis wise Flowers.

Yeah as an absolute one off I'd say your husband needs to take ds with him for pick up and just cope for this one occasion unfortunately

Could one of your friends go in the car with your dh to help out with the pick up?

This is my suggestion. Friend collects DD and walks her to car where DH is waiting with DS.

Thanks all, I had it this morning and am camped out in my room. The children haven't tried to come in and it will have worn off at 5pm, so fingers crossed all good
