To think that “because of covid” is now taking the piss?

24 hours before we are leaving for a stay in a holiday cottage, and this message has just popped up - “ because of the current situation with covid we are no longer providing bedding. Please bring your own pillows, duvets, linen and towels”.
This feels like a massive cop out now, and I’m really hacked off at having to sort it out at the last minute. I get that there are still plenty of covid cases around, but surely we’re done with this kind of measure?

I’ve stopped spending my money with those establishments who use Covid as excuse for poor service. Just ask for a small refund

3 pm check in has always been fairly standard. 10 am checkout is a bit early but not unusual many years ago.

I am done with the COVID excuses though. Mainly it’s because they cannot get the staff!!

YES. The app thing is really getting ridiculous now. I can still stomach the ones where the QR links to your web browser but there are some now (not that many thankfully...yet) that require you to download a whole damn app and create an account there! More chances for my phone number/email address to get spammed and stolen. 🙄

I would reply : Ok it will be sorted but since I paid full price fir half the service do not expect a positive review .

LOL at no teapot! Now trying to remember whether there was one there or no in the holiday house I rented recently - I "theenk" there was. But if there had been no cafetiere - then there woulda been problems bigtime LOL and me getting upset as to just how I was expected to make my drinks of coffee and having to do without coffee until I could buy a cafetiere there for myself. I'm not a teadrinker myself - but keep in teabags for friends etc and admits no-one has ever asked me for a teapot in all these years and they just dunk one of the teabags I keep for them in a mug and that's that = their drink made. I guess it's not the norm any more to use teapots and so I really only expect to see them if I'm out somewhere with someone for a "Devon cream tea" (or the nearest I can find to it - to be more precise) and I expect a teapot to be used for any friend I'm with (if they've decided to have tea for their drink) - so it's all "posh like/done proper".

Because of covid TFL stopped us old fogies using our Freedom passes before 9am and they have not gone back to the old times yet

@asdfgasdfg that is incorrect, because the government insisted as part of the funding, which I do not think would have happened if the London Mayor was a Tory.

The OPs original point is well made, and the short notice unacceptable. If we still had the show 'That's Life' today, I'm sure they would be making a weekly award for the most ridiculous thing to blame on the pandemic.
