To hate that work....

Takes up so much of my thoughts and anxieties ?
Dread it so much. Up at 5.50AM, not back until 6.30PM. Stressful, bitchy atmosphere, tedious. Feel like I am wasting my life but not so easy to just jump ship when many jobs are the same .

🤷‍♀️ I like my job. It pays well I work with good people. It more or less keeps me entertained.

that’s not to say it’s all sunshine and roses but it’s more good than bad

Look for a new job, I don’t do those hours, or work with bitchy people, there are lots of opportunities out there.

Life is too short to spend it doing something you’re not enjoying to this extent, start applying for new things 😊

Could you re-train or get an extra qualification? The work I’m doing now I didn’t qualify for until 2022 but I’d been working in the industry for over 20 years

loveandpoprockz · 09/07/2023 20:57

You aren’t alone. I’m incredibly stressed because of work at the moment. Have impossible deadlines to meet and find myself up for hours in the middle of the night worrying about it. It’s at the back of my mind all the time and I feel unhappy and empty inside. The only thing that keeps me going is my family and two young children. I can’t see a way out unfortunately. It’s too risky to look for anything else and my confidence is sapped anyway.

Ah, the good old 'Why don't you just retrain' has been uttered !

oh come on. Why is it so out of the realm of possibility? If you don’t make stuff happen in your life, who will?

work is a significant part of our lives, whether we enjoy it or not. All jobs are a ball ache at times (I think that’s why we get paid to go, is it?) so you might as well do something you enjoy the majority of the time (or at least something you feel is worthwhile). Not all retraining is a four year university course that costs ££££, either! Use your imagination.

There was a thread talking about this the other day.
No it isn't good to stay in a job you hate but it's also not so easy or financially do-able to retrain especially in today's economic times.

There was but it’s also not impossible. If you hate your job and are stuck at the end of the day nothing will change unless you make changes. That may be retraining, looking for learning opportunities or advanced skills in the current workplace, or any other thing than doing nothing and hoping it gets better.
