DC Hobbies

DH works full time, I work part time.
DC (3yo) has started expressing interest in doing a hobby class on a weekend ie sport and the like. It would take an hour out of the weekend including travel.

DH doesn’t want him to do it as it eats into DH time with DS on his weekend off. DH feels the same about birthday parties.

Is DH BU?

I can see your DH's pov. We have tried to keep our weekends as family time for the same reason - DH works Mon-Fri and it's his chance to spend fun time with the dc.
We opt for week day classes for hobbies when we can, but we do one hobby which only runs on weekends - fortunately it's a parent and child class, so DH takes DD and they spend that time together.
We go to any parties we're invited to - around here it's expected that parents stay, and they're always on a weekend, so we still spend that time with DD and enjoy watching her have fun.

We still manage to spend most of our weekends together as a family, always setting up nice days out to make it memorable. It's a little bit more limited on the days we do the weekend hobby - logistically we tend to stay in the area where the venue is, which has some nice places to visit but gets a bit samey after a while. And it means we can't travel to do a bigger day out outside town, because it takes up the morning.
