Anyone else watching this? I still think she’s a pathological liar who murdered her daughter 😢

Which channel is it on?

BlackSwan · 09/07/2023 07:06

The lying is off the scale. Weird weird weird.

Hippywannabe · 09/07/2023 07:16

I followed the case avidly at the time, thanks to the Sunshine laws in Florida, the evidence was available to read. I watched all of the trial.
I absolutely was convinced that she would be found guilty and STILL am gobsmacked that she wasn't.
As I said at the time, the prosecution should have just been able to say that Caylee was missing for 31 days and Casey failed to report her missing.
The lies that were told by Casey were mind-blowing.

bellac11 · 09/07/2023 07:17

Yes what channel is this on?

TidyDancer · 09/07/2023 07:23

Oh I remember this case. I still don't understand how she wasn't found guilty.

TidyDancer · 09/07/2023 07:27

@VisionsOfSplendour @bellac11 it's on the crime and investigation channel on Sky (I presume that's also available on other providers!).

BlackSwan · 09/07/2023 08:27

I don't trust the father either.

I don't trust the father either.

Did she accuse him of sexual.abuse?
I.have seen a couple if documentaries. about her ,and found it astonishing she wasn't found guilty

Saschka · 09/07/2023 08:44

It seems like the whole family were highly dodgy - it sounds like there is a lot of backstory we aren’t hearing (bizarre behaviour from the family, the whole thing of the child going to live with the nanny was weird, just sounds hugely chaotic and honestly like there are substance abuse issues in the family).

I suspect she wasn’t convicted because it’s impossible to say which one of them killed her. Presumably in the UK you’d get her on “causing or allowing the death a child or vulnerable adult”, so you wouldn’t need to prove she’d actually done it herself. I don’t know enough about US law to know if that was an option for the prosecutor.

CleverLilViper · 09/07/2023 09:02

I couldn’t believe she wasn’t found guilty either.

I think she wasn’t found guilty because the prosecution did too much. They overplayed their hand with theories that they couldn’t prove. I’m sure one of their theories was that she’d strangled Caylee but there was no definitive evidence of this and they failed to include the numerous internet searches made by presumably Casey about how to kill a child.

They also pushed for it to be a death penalty case which makes it a lot harder for a jury to convict for obvious reasons.

I honestly think if they’d took the death penalty off the table, focused on her many lies and behaviour after her daughter went missing they’d have had a slam dunk case.

It’s hard to understand how any jury could find her not guilty after all the lies and everything else but I don’t think the defence has to work very hard to establish reasonable doubt.

Thanks I googled it but only found a reference to a channel called peacock that I've never heard of

I don't have sky buy I get some channels via Now TV

BlackSwan · 09/07/2023 10:26

You can watch it on Prime with an add on subscription. I think she is guilty and I remember being shocked at how she had pulled the wool over the jury's eyes at the time. But something wrong about the father too.

Peacock is on NOW.

RebeccaMillet · 09/07/2023 11:04

All very strange- I feel so frustrated after watching the 3 episodes. Nothing makes sense at all to me. Far too many holes and gaps.

Thanks, it isn't availeble for me, I guess I don't have the right access. There's a dic that comes up on Hayu but I don't have that one either

marewindham · 09/07/2023 11:21

She wasn't convicted because the prosecution fucked up and over-charged, simple as that.

If they'd gone for a manslaughter or even a murder 2 charge, they likely would have had a conviction. They decided to push for murder 1 plus death penalty in a case with no physical evidence but juries can't sentence people to death on no evidence even if it's obvious the person is a massive liar and generally dodgy.

There's also a lot of misinformation about the case and about Anthony in general. For example, the media created this myth that she was a hardcore party girl, but people who knew her said she very rarely went out and didn't like to party. The Internet searches seem dubious (the large number of of searches they claim she made within the space of a few seconds are more than any human could type). And the entire family are very dysfunctional.

This is a really good and well-researched long read:

I’ve just finished watching this. Casey speaks a lot about herself - how she felt, how hard it was for her and how she went through hell. She still doesn’t talk about what happened in those 31 days!
She waited until she watched unseen footage of George before deciding whether she’d tell the interviewer what happened that day (she didn’t in the end!)

clpsmum · 06/08/2023 15:32

I haven't finished this yet but I'm finding myself believing her, am I the only one?
