So I joined the nhs just over 2 months ago as a bank employee I only took the role as they work in the same department as the team I’d eventually like to join. They have just offered me a permanent position and I have accepted it. So I am no longer a bank employee.

However the job I want has now come up that I have been waiting for. If I apply for it my team will know as we use trac which will get back to my manager.

I feel so much guilt as they have been good to me and i feel very lucky to be in such a nice team.

wwyd? I don’t know whether to stay in my team longer as I haven’t been here long. But I don’t know when this opportunity will come up again.

Fellow NHS worker here! Go for it! If there's anything the last couple of years of fighting for the job I now do, and having to piss a few people off in the process has taught me, it's that in the end, no one is fighting your corner or rooting for you more than yourself. Go for it so you don't regret at least trying!

Also, there are nice people everywhere, and if they're really that nice they'll be happy for you. I'm a B7 manager, I coached a B5 colleague for her B6 interviews, mentored her, coached her, was a shoulder to cry on and a sounding board for a long time, I invested a lot of my time, energy and emotional intelligence. She got the job, didn't like it, left 6 months later. Do I feel any differently towards her, absolutely not, she had to do what was right for her. I hope that reassures you.

I agree with last poster. Go for it. If they ask u why say it's ur dream job.

Go for it. You only get one chance at life. No regrets.

100% go for it. You don’t owe anyone in your current team anything and if they’re decent people they wouldn’t want you to hold back on applying for a job you want!

Why is it your dream job? I just mean how different is it to what you are currently doing?

I put a very high value on nice colleagues and a good workplace which you say you have - but if you decide you want to go for the other job you have nothing to feel guilty about.
