To worry about my nails?

I’ve just had my nails done a cyan blue color. I’m not one for bright colors, I usually stick to nudes/whites/pinks, but I recently lost someone close to me and blue just reminds me of him, so because his birthday is soon, I decided to go with blue just this once

Problem is, I potentially have a job interview in the next few weeks, and as these are gel, I’ll have them for the month at least.

AIBU to worry they might impact the hiring manager’s opinion of me? I’m sure bright blue nails aren’t considered professional? Or am I overthinking things completely?

If you’re that worries you can remove the gel colour before your interview

Remove them the day before. No big deal. Or send a quick email out before

Hello, I’d just like to check the dress code for the interview. I recently got a temporary ‘bright’ colour gel nail in memory of someone I lost who was close to me, as it was their favourite colour.

I'd not worry, is it an extremely conservative place? Like a Swiss bank? I know places like UBS or traditional law firms have strict dress codes, but at, say, a school or a retail position it would probably be ok. In tech it would also be ok for example

Just paint over them with a normal colour if you are that fussed/worried before the interview

Jars put a coat or two of a normal/non-gel polish in a more subtle colour over them at home the night before your interview. It’ll come off afterwards with acetone-free nail varnish remover and won’t damage the gel polish underneath.

Jars = just

DaisyDonuts · 04/07/2023 22:20

Oh my god why didn’t I think of just painting over them with regular polish? 🙈

Ok definitely just had a moment of madness there, panic took over 😂
