Hello, I have anxiety so I am freaking out about, I have had 3 nose bleeds in the last 3 months and I don't usually get nose bleeds so now I'm freaking out it could be something serious, I'm always sneezing and having a runny nose atm not sure if that's heyfever? Anyone else had this issue? Thanks

The runny nose has possibly given you a sore in your nose, that bleeds easily.

Been going on for ages now think it's to do with heyfever, it's the same nostril aswel. I don't know why health anxiety takes you straight to the worst thing it's horrid, thanks

I had this as a kid and had to have it cauterised. I seem to remember then saying to put Vaseline up my nostril to help it heal.

Are you blowing your nose a lot? I have hay fever and often end up with a bloody nose.

I'm not blowing it all the time, but I wipe it a lot but I keep sneezing all the time and have a runny nose

Constant sneezing can irritate the blood vessels in your nose.

I don't want to sound silly but are they a sign of brain tumours etc? They've only just started out the blue does seem worrying blood out your nose unless I'm being dramatic lol

OP please do NOT worry! Very very rarely are nosebleeds a cause for concern - I have had them over recent months lasting 45-60 mins and coming every hour at times. Massive inconvenience and they leave me drained (literally!) but have been checked out and I do have a physical issue inside my nose that MAY be the cause but nothing more.

The thing is, pretty much any symptom can be a sign of cancer. Obviously some are more indicative of cancers than others, like lumps in the breast etc, but the chances of something like a few nosebleeds being a sign of cancer are so incredibly slim that it isn’t worth worrying about. If it continues then by all means see a GP as there may be something they can offer you, such as medication or an ENT referral, but they’re very unlikely to send you for an MRI. Are you getting any support for the health anxiety?

TokyoStories · 03/07/2023 13:44

Think of it this way. You’ve started having nose bleeds during hayfever season. You’re sneezing constantly and wiping your nose a lot, which is known to cause nosebleeds. On the other hand, the lifetime risk of developing a brain tumour is less than 1%. Which is more likely?

Thankyou everyone for this, I know I sound dramatic, yes I get support for my health anxiety currently doing therapy it helps loads but sometimes I have blips like this! Thankyou again everyone honestly appreciate it, I need to think of things it could be instead of worst case
