total charlatans

the podcast is absolutely fascinating though.

fearfulexchange · 01/07/2023 18:27

I use to believe in the concept, life has taught me otherwise.

theresthesun · 01/07/2023 18:32

It’s just something people tell themselves imo

TwilightSkies · 01/07/2023 18:33

Yeah it’s not real!

happyfoot · 01/07/2023 18:33

Its absolute bloody rubbish. All the people I know who claimed to have met their twin flame and started dating have since split up and they were not healthy relationships either. If they were truly twin flames, they'd still be together. What twin flame really means is: you connect with someone deeply and have an intense attraction to them. That is normal and pretty much most people feel that in the beginning. True test is if it lasts the test of time.

Lampan · 01/07/2023 18:34

Absolute utter nonsense. If there was only one person in the universe who was your ‘twin flame’, statistically the chances of meeting them would be pretty much zero.

I agree about the podcast though, fascinating and gripping and batshit 😂

giraffetrousers · 01/07/2023 18:35

Well, someone I know is on their fourth "twin flame" so, that says it all really.

Or should it be quad-flame? 😏

WonderfulUsername · 01/07/2023 18:36

I've never heard of 'Twin Flames'

Have they reinvented the 'soulmate'?

BreviloquentBastard · 01/07/2023 18:39

I've been with my husband since I was 14, he's a wonderful human being, we're fantastic together as both spouses and parents, and he's the absolute love of my life. I still think the twin flames thing is utter tripe.

WelshNerd · 01/07/2023 18:40

I only know about it due to Taylor swift lyrics. Personally I don't see it as anything as metaphor, and quite an old concept? Like in Wuthering Heights.

nosykids · 01/07/2023 18:41

The only couple I have encountered who use this term are made up of an exceptionally strong woman and a man who totally rides on her coattails.

See, this is lovely. I dont believe in twin flames either but I'd be far more likely to believe two people are meant to be together if their relationship has lasted a very long time and they still adore each other. Claiming you've met your twin flame after 3 weeks of dating when both people are on their best behaviours is ridiculous.

CurlewKate · 01/07/2023 18:51

Listen to Tim Minchin "If I didn't have you". Sums it up perfectly.

HRTQueen · 01/07/2023 18:55

It’s nonsense

I do believe you can have one relationship that is right for you and your partner or a number of relationships that is right for you and your partner at that point in time

the podcast is interesting

TheFormidableMrsC · 01/07/2023 19:09

I know somebody who has wasted years of her life waiting for her twin flame, a man who has made it blatantly clear he's not interested. He's been very kind but he doesn't want a relationship with her. Or anything for that matter. She believes he's the father of the child she hasn't yet had and he just hasn't realised it yet. I've had to take a step back from this fuckwittery.
