Passport wait times

I sent off for my passport renewal and changed my name to my married name so I applied online and sent marriage certificate in post, they have received this, checked documents and I've been notified to say it's been printed and will be delivered within 4 weeks.

In the same envelope I included my newborns birth certificate, I applied for hers at the same time online. They confirmed that they had received this document too but nothing has happened since, still says it's being checked.

I would have thought they'd of been approved at similar times or does it not work like this?

Do you think it's because she's a new registered person? I'm worried mine will come back in time and hers wont, we aren't going away until beginning of September but online it says it can take up to 10 weeks so I'm worrying a bit. I did it the same day we had her registered so it was all done ASAP.

Just renewed mine - ten days from application to receiving new one. However I wasn’t changing name or doing one for my baby.

My babe change took a week, a new child passport will take longer I’d say.

My baby’s took 3 weeks from start to finish. Once they’d sent the birth certificate back the passport arrived a couple of days later.

My friend had to write to them to ask why her 1 year old seemed to be classed as a security risk as it was taking so long to process! She received it the following week, after waiting for about 8 weeks.

We applied for one for our newborn was back within three weeks of them receiving the documents. That was a couple or months ago.

My daughter has just sorted my grandsons out. (He's not a child anymore )

Five days turnaround!!

Child renewal was done and returned in 5 working days last week. Child's first passport took 7 working days at the same time. They go to different PO Boxes so maybe your babies passport is taking a little longer as it needs to go to a different team? They're really fast at the moment though so I wouldn't worry too much.
