To hate booking holidays and holiday accommodation?

I hate it. Managed to sort a week in France in the Lot but now have to find a stopover south of Paris. I have a weird thing about it and can only spend 5 minutes on air b and b before having a mild panic attack and shutting it down. Dh keeps asking me if I've found anywhere and it just makes me want to run away. Isn't this something I should enjoy doing? We haven't been on holiday for years so I should be enjoying it? Tbf dh is normally good at it but is about to collapse with stress at work while I'm at home doing nothing recovering from a (mild) operation so have nothing better to do.

I absolutely love it. We've done many driving holidays and last year driving to the South of France it was great to do the whole thing on the hoof. The only thing I booked in advance was the ferry, one way. Just using my phone I researched the distances to find interesting towns to stop at, accommodation (a mix of Airbnb, hotels, Booking.com etc), ideas for restaurants, things to see, best beaches. No kids though which probably makes this type of impromptu thing easier.

Back pre-internet it was Rough Guides all the way.

Oh god yes no kids makes it more like fun.

I must say booking.com is brilliant

Booking holidays and accommodation brings me out in a cold sweat. I hate the research as it has to be right, I place too much pressure on myself to enjoy it so I feel your pain. Friends of mine always seem to manage to come up with total gems of places, I don't know how they do the planning.
