Aibu to think you’re fucking rude if you’re sitting in a booked meeting room and you act annoyed when the person who booked it wants to use it?

I'm guessing the squatter is male, middle management, and little bitter about his career path - from experience!

Ha, so true although where I work room bookings apparently don’t apply if you’re a certain level of seniority. It’s really annoying.

i agree with both whendoesmydietstart and ifyoudontask

It depends, did you turn up on time for your room booking? It's equally annoying when you think you've found a last minute vacant room where people haven't turned up for their meeting and then people turn up at 13 minutes past the hour and kick you out!

Oh, and we especially had this issue at a company (brewery) I used to work at because the popular meeting room in question had a bar serving real ale. In context it was a training room for publicans, but also doubled up as a general meeting room. I held the diary, and you can imagine the hissy fits when it wasn't available on demand, or when the training manager walked in with his group of trainees and a random middle manager was sitting there with his cronies. 🤣

Next time try this:

"Hi Hank" I bet that's his name, rhymes with. "So glad you're here, please stay for our monthly paperclip purchasing and quality review meeting we we'd really like your input"

and then hold him hostage for soul destroying 120 minutes discussing the minutiae of whatever

LolaSmiles · 27/06/2023 09:52

If you're on time for your room booking, it's clearly booked for that time and they're being an arse about leaving then YANBU at all.

If it's not clear the room as been booked, someone thinks they've found a free space to work and they're mildly frustrated that they're going to have to find another space to work then YABU.

Meh, who cares if they're annoyed. Not your problem, you booked the room. Sometimes they do it to try and intimidate you into letting them stay. Forge ahead with a friendly but uncompromising smile.

I mean this situation was I turned up on time, could clearly be seen by them waiting outside. After 5 minutes into my booked time I knocked on the door.

They walked out shooting me a clear shot of annoyance. When they were in the wrong and I’d given them enough extra time to wrap up the call.
