Help - feels like thunder is in my ears

For the past few months I’ve been experiencing a lot of dizziness and fatigue. Often when I get up or walk up the stairs, I feel pressure in my ears and they go foggy like I’m hearing through a walkie talkie. There’s pressure and a whooshing sound that makes my head throb. Usually it lasts for about 20 seconds and stops. I’ve been to the doctors recently and for the past three months I have had high white blood cells. Nobody has bothered to look into it because it is continuous and therefore not an emergency. I’ve also had high inflammation levels.

Just now, I walked outside to sit with my partner and it came on like never before, a pulsating feeling in my temples and hearing almost thunder it was so loud, I had to sit down because I felt like I was going to faint and for about 1 min 30 seconds all I had was this loud whooshing which pulsated, and every time my partner talked it sounded like he was on a microphone. I was holding my head because I thought I was going to faint!

it’s stopped now but I still feel off and a bit worried. Has anyone experienced this before? I’ve never ever heard of this before and have never done anything about it because it was only ever 20 seconds or so.

TIA

Go and see your GP and they may refer you to an audiologist if it's anything more serious than blocked ears.

Could it be tinnitus? I hope you get sorted soon.

Do you have a blood pressure monitor?

Whooshingears · 25/06/2023 21:21

@LadyGardenersQuestionTime I don’t but had it checked last week and it was normal!

Pulsatile tinnitus? Definitely get it checked out....

DyslexicPoster · 25/06/2023 21:25

Yes it's my blood pressure. Has your checked?

LadyGardenersQuestionTime · 25/06/2023 21:27

Have you checked it when it’s happening? Or at least take your pulse?

Wolfpa · 25/06/2023 21:27

Sounds like vertigo you should talk to your Dr as they may be able to prescribe some antibiotics

Whooshingears · 25/06/2023 21:32

I have been tachycardic for about 4 years now. I have never had a heart rate below 110. In the past three months it has been 130 or above

Sounds blood pressure related to me.

legalseagull · 25/06/2023 21:45

Fighting an infection of some sort with the high white blood cells and increased HR?

I'd go back to the GP

As PP says, sounds like Pulsatile tinnitus. I have it, I’ve had it for over 10 years. Lots of tests, MRI, CT, ENT and audiologist.

It sounds like how mine started as it’s quite alarming at first. Now it’s just something I live with, a constant pulse/thumping in my ear!

Mention it to your Dr, but could to have tests to rule out anything.
