Sleeping arrangements

Not really AIBU but just wondered how you work around bedroom arrangements with children of different ages and genders?

We have two boys (12 and the other is 10 next week) and a girl (6)

Currently our two boys have bunk beds and share a room whilst our girl has her own bedroom. My son 10 always says he would rather share a room with his sister and my eldest says he needs his own space (currently going through puberty so constant mood swings).

I thought it would be better for the two boys to share as I know after a certain age a boy and girl can’t share a room?

how do you work around it with your family?

Is there any way to partition the largest bedroom to make two private spaces?

I agree a 12 year old needs his own space but in two years that'll be your other son and he shouldn't then be sharing with a girl of eight. Any shuffle now will just kick the can down the road, and not very far.

Unless you can make a third space, your current arrangement is the least bad.

No the bedrooms are tiny tbh. Small terraced house. The boys room has enough room for their bunk beds and a tall chest of drawers each & daughters room isn’t much bigger she has a mid sleeper with built in desk and wardrobe and a bit of space for some storage for toys etc

Your youngest son is too old to share with his sister

do the boys have the largest room? If you’d is larger could they move into yours and that room is split? There’s some good ideas on how to do that on the internet.

alternatively you sleep downstairs on a sofa bed and they get a room each
