Just been walking along the high street and was walking visibly in a hurry. One of those charity people tried to stop me and said "hey beautiful lady"

I politely said no thank you to which he replied "yeah right... beautiful, you wish!!!"

I mean really?!? Would you report to the charity?

What a twat. Why are they always twats? Surely employing nice people with good social skills would be more effective?

I had one literally scream 'Don't you want to Save The Children?!' at me down the high street once when I politely said no thank you, I'm running late.

Twat.

I can't stand those charity people!!! I was out on my short lunch hour hopping to the shops and when one tried to stop me I said "sorry I'm in a hurry" (had headphones in etc) and he said "no, if you were in a hurry you'd be walking like this" and then proceeded to demonstrate walking at a faster pace than the one I was going at! Angry

I stopped and glared at him and said "what the FUCK did you just say to me?!" And he just turned and walked away! It was years ago and I still wish I'd chased him down for his badge number to make a complaint!

When I was heavily pregnant with my ds a Sky TV sigh up person in the mall called me a dirty fat cow who couldn’t afford their package when I said I didn’t want to sign up (I already had sky tv).

I wish I’d reported him. He’s lucky I didn’t punch him.

SayHi · 23/06/2023 17:01

Yes I’d definitely report!

Imagine what he’s saying to other people who say no.

I have noticed many of these sorts of men who use their ‘charm’ and ‘good looks’ thinking that women are so desperate they’re going to run over to them and sign up to whatever they’re suggesting.

I’m so glad you said no OP as that must have taken him down a peg or 2.

Pkhsvd · 23/06/2023 17:05

I would; I hope it hasn’t upset you too much OP but for some people that really would destroy them so on their behalf I would

Pkhsvd · 23/06/2023 17:08

@GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut something similar happened to me and I’m actually a social worker and was on my way to a visit so I stopped and explained to him pretty abruptly that I was doing something that would do more than his charity (it was a charity that I don’t think does much good)

YoungerYears · 23/06/2023 17:10

Report report report.

Bet they don’t speak like this to men.

Archeron · 23/06/2023 17:14

That would really have upset me. I’m already very low and having counselling, it would have tipped me over the edge. I would report.

fantasmasgoria1 · 23/06/2023 17:18

I would. I have a mental illness and get very anxious. I had my headphones in so I drowned people out. I wanted to get to the taxi rank as quickly as possible. This charity worker asked me something and I said no thank you. I began to walk away and he jumped in front of me and said don't you ignore me and just went on at me. He was even shouting things when I was a distance away. I reported him and the e mail I got back said he had received a warning and was having to have extra training. So report him.

LuckySantangelo35 · 23/06/2023 17:21

What a prick
report him

smithyyholden · 23/06/2023 17:26

Thanks all - I was actually fully prepared to be told I was being sensitive (as I often am)

Its interesting to see how many people have had bad experiences with chuggers. Its also interesting to wonder how much pressure charities or the contract owners put on these people to reach targets that they're driven to insulting innocent passers by. I assume chuggers are paid per signature. Let's face it, if they had any other job to go to, they'd go to it.

Spottedsox · 23/06/2023 17:30

What a Muppet.
Report because it is worth the time to sort out someone behaving in such away on behalf of a charity.
