Inspired by the earlier thread about suitable work clothes...

Just generally interested in what people do for a living, no outing details required.

I'll start... IT Software Support

I can't tell you, it's too outing ( Grincome on someone had to). It really is though - for a long time I was the only one in the UK and even now there are less than five of us.

If you didn't do your job so many of the other "impressive" jobs couldn't get done.

Indeed. Nursery workers have the hardest job I can imagine.

Retired University chef. Loved it for 44 years, cooking 800 meals per day.
Hard work, but we loved our students.
During the holidays we turned into a conference centre, so did experience fine dining, BBQ's Anniversary celebrations, weddings etc
Great job.

Ooh I'd definitely fancy that. Do you enjoy it?

I'm a secondary school teacher (MFL). One of the few happy ones these days, it seems. I'm very, very lucky to work in a lovely, supportive school.

I'm sure you are! I've liked the receptionists in every single school I've ever worked in. They are always great.

LOL I hope more than 5 people work at MI6!!

Nothing like that, just extremely niche and not everyone's cup of tea, though I love it

Director at a small not for profit. I do fundraising, programme design, monitoring and evaluation, bits of HR, governance.. it's manic but mostly enjoyable.

Swrigh1234 · 24/06/2023 21:43

This thread is like that Simpsons episode where Lisa worries that she has her dad’s genes for intelligence. So Marge rounds up all the Simpson women on Homer’s side and they say what their jobs are. Showing that the Simpson women are high achievers and only the men drew the short straw.

Go girls.
