Wellbeing manager at a University: managing a team of advisors, holding complex cases (mental health, sexual violence, academic issues) and work with other departments. I love working with students and most elements of my job

Get involved with your local theatre/arts centre.

What area of sound engineering does the youg person want to pursue?
Look into uni courses specific to the interest. There are various different degrees, for different branches.

Live events, like theatre, live music, corporate events require different skill sets than recording studio work or broadcast tv.

I have a passion for theatre, so thats what I specialised in. There are several degrees in technical theatre, with a sound bias, if you want to go something different.

In any case, getting involved with your local theatre is a great way to get some hands on experience. You likely wont be paid to start with, but it ight lead to some paid work as you gain experience!
Or your local pub with live music, ofr instance.
Just get as much work experience as you can.

@Blip and @QROPSvISIPP forensic means anything to do with law and courts, not specifically criminal. I am a forensic psychiatrist and these days I work only in the civil courts.

If you didn't do your job so many of the other "impressive" jobs couldn't get done.
