Hey sorry for posted here but just wanted some traffic. This morning on the way to school my 5 year old claimed he can feel his heart beat and had his hand on his chest. So I had a feel and I too could feel his heart beat galloping by putting my hand on his chest. Had a feel of my older two and couldn’t really feel theirs.
as he was walking into his class I could see him feeling his chest again.
I had a word with the teacher to keep and eye on his etc
but my question is , is it normal to be able to feel the beating by placing your hand on their chest?

I’m a bit of a panicker so sorry if it seems silly, I’m just worried he was having some kind of issue which made him feel it.
any reassurance welcome

I just checked and I can feel mine. Not sure if that helps or not sorry!

Just to check- when you say galloping, do you mean you could feel his heart going too fast? Or just that you could feel it beating when you put your hand over it?

I can feel my ds heartbeat. He is very skinny so I think it makes it more obvious

mindutopia · 22/06/2023 10:52

Mine has definitely had this. He said something like, 'I think my heart is being funny' 😧I don't know what it was, but obviously didn't cause any issues. You could always ring and ask school if he's feeling well, but it really could just be feeling nervous or excited. I think most people can feel their heartbeats.

Normal for my kids to be able to feel it. If I sit quietly I can feel my own heart beat without touching my chest but I don’t normally notice it because it’s obviously always there. The younger children are the faster their heart beats, he he had been running around it would have been even faster but if your worried speak to a doctor

Thanks for all the quick responses. I suffer terribly with health anxiety so trying to remain rational lol!! It felt fast but I know that children do have faster heart beats. He wasn’t running just sat in the car. Think it’s just thrown me that I’ve not got him Here to check. His teacher did say she would have a feel and if there was any concerns she would call.
