DH has used the same barber in all the 7 years I‘ve known him. The other day I was in the room when he made his appointment by phone. During the call he referred to himself as Chris. His name isn’t Chris.
I asked him why he’d given a different name and he said that his barber has always called him Chris. He didn’t correct him on the first appointment because he thought it was a one off, but he carried on going. Now, years down the line, he still thinks he’s called Chris. He says it doesn’t really matter, he doesn’t know him other than as his barber - they have small talk about football and stuff but that’s about it.
He doesn’t know for certain when he first started going, but they were fully booked and someone cancelled, so he got the cancellation. He thinks the canceller might have been called Chris but they didn’t update the appointment book, hence the confusion.
AIBU to think he should now correct the barber and book in under his actual name?
