Giant sodding paddling pool

DH has come home with one of those massive paddling pools (3mx 2m) that his boss gave him. While that itself hasn’t cost us anything we now need to buy a cover and a pump and chlorine and I am peed off. Kids are excited but all I see is more work and an eventual huge patch of dead grass. Plus we have lots of cats in the area so worried about punctures. AIBU to suggest we don’t use it this year, and wait until we can designate a bit of garden for it go in next year, or am I being overly negative? Will I learn to love it( I think they look a bit ugly if im honest)
DH sulking as he’s done something nice for the family but I’m really not onboard and kids say im ruining their summer.

Hope you're not on a water meter.

I understand your pov but your kids won't. Keep it for next year? Boooo.

Killjoy

My cat doesn't go near ours. The grass recovers. You'll get so much fun out of it I'd be happy and crack on 😂

Ahh don’t be miserable. Cover is 15 quid from Amazon, chemicals about 20 quid. Be worth it for the fun it brings your kids. They’re not young forever. You won’t care about a patch of dry grass in 10 years time when you’ve got lovely memories.

Hope you're not on a water meter.

That was my first thought too!

Water for a pool that size is cheap.

Sorry, I'm with your DH and the kids. It sounds like huge fun. Let your DH do the work of putting it up, filling it etc. if you think that will be a pain.
Get it up and get playing in it while we still have nice weather, you'll learn to love it because the kids will enjoy it so much (and if you don't you'll be known as 'Unfun Mum' Grin )
