Walking to work this morning and I'm catcalled by two chaps in a van commenting thus: "Nice legs, go all the way up to your arse."

Told a colleague who said I should be grateful I still "have it" at my age. Colleague is a woman and I'm 39.

I'm not wearing anything outrageous either just a knee length tea dress and vans.

Pathetic specimens.

YANBU. There is no need for men to shout comments at women in the street, even if they think the comments are compliments. It is not a compliment to have your body loudly commented on by a stranger. Your colleague is a man-pleaser. Depressing.

I mean, where else would your legs go up to? That's terribly unimaginative of them. Also if your dress is knee length they've really got no way of knowing!

It's easy after the fact to thing of a witty response (and my foot will go all the way up to yours etc etc) but it shouldn't be necessary.

Colleague is within her rights to think it's a compliment if it was to happen to her, she doesn't get to decide how you feel about it!
