Would you be worried about this rash?

Four year old otherwise totally well… has been itching all over for a while since it got warm. Now has this rash that looks like heat rash and also under his arms where he sweats more? Googled petetchial rash and scared myself!

I would get that checked out. Have you done the glass test? If it doesn’t disappear when pressed with a glass then go straight to a&e.

It doesn’t disappear but I assumed it was friction rash from scratching… would that disappear?! I’m worried now!

He’s been in forest school on a zip wire all day too so wonder if it’s from that?!

How strange, I work in a nursery and yesterday we sent 2 children home with a very similar if not the same rash it's a rash I'd never seen before, the children were sent home as it didn't fade under glass.

That is weird! The bit like that is only under his armpits the rest is little dots on chest like heat rash

If its mainly under arms then it could very well be the zipwire. How is he in himself?

Hoppingmad231 · 20/06/2023 19:54

Yes at first I thought heat rash but then thought ive never seen one like that before, one parent thinks it is an eczema flare up other parent had seen the rash earlier but not informed us and had gp appointment booked am not sure off the outcome yet.

My son gets a very similar rash from scratching - however if you’re worried, never feel bad about getting it checked out. Medics won’t think you’re a time waster with a rash that doesn’t fade under a glass.

Totally fine in himself and he had this same thing under one arm two years ago when he had been at soft play so I assume it’s the same and from trauma?

I am so sure this is what it is! I think the bobbly rash on his chest is heat rash. He’s been itching for weeks!
This was new today after zip wire at nursery! I don’t want to seem dramatic as he’s fine in himself. I think either trauma from zip wire or itching arm pits as hot!

Oh that’s good to know. He has a raised rash on chest that goes with glass that he’s had since a baby that is heat rash I am sure of it. Then this just under armpits almost like scratches.

Looks like scratch marks from his nails.

Oysterbabe · 20/06/2023 20:10

I wouldn't worry about that at all, especially if he's not ill.

SchoolShenanigans · 20/06/2023 20:12

My kid has a similar rash last year. It turned out to be the end of a virus. Has your child been ill? Cold?

Either way, with rashes, always get a GP to check.

CottonSock · 20/06/2023 20:13

Wouldn't bother me if child was well.

Whatkindofuckeryisthis · 20/06/2023 20:16

He hasn’t recently been poorly no. He’s asleep now so will see how he is tomorrow. Am hoping from the matching location on both underarms it’s just from playing at nursery!

Has your doctor's surgery got a consultation section on their website?

Mine has a section where you can send in symptoms and pics and a nurse/doctor will take a look and decide whether you need an appointment or if it's nothing to worry about.
Might be worth checking to see?

I think it does so could do tomorrow. My husband thinks it’s from where he picks him up and play fights as he’s had it before there!

Seems to have nearly gone this morning! Maybe I was paranoid! The heat rash is still there and he’s itching though.
