Is the inside of the Denby imperial blue crockery pure /off white or greyish with speckles? Thanks.

It’s white

NineOfNine · 19/06/2023 12:05

White

TeaWithFlowers · 19/06/2023 12:15

Thank you! So definitely no speckles/dots in the white part?

Is it more a bright white or off-white?

And, one more question: are the standard imperial blue dinner plates quite deep (coupé-ish)? It doesn't say coupe in the description but they look deeper than my current dinner plates. Do they go easily in the dishwasher?

The standard dinner plates are not deep at all really and go in the dishwasher well. The larger dinner plates don’t fit in as well though.

D20 · 19/06/2023 12:38

Not imperial blue but I’ve just measured a Denby coupe and it’s about 1/3 higher than the dinner plates.

Nomorecoconutboosts · 19/06/2023 12:51

It’s a fairly clear white.
I’ve just had my lunch on this plate - the speckles are crumbs…
20 year old plate in daily use (wedding present) we are very happy with the quality.
as others said they are good in the dishwasher too.
mine barely have a mark on them…

Also to add, this is a dessert size plate but generous sized, we use them constantly for meals, toast, lunches.

The white parts are bright white, no speckles or dots.

On the Denby website it lists the Imperial Blue dinner plates depth as 3cm for both coupe and non coupe, although the plates look exactly the same. My IB coupe dinner plates (all blue) have a raised lip, so excellent for containing gravy and sauces. The website has pictures of the plates sideways on, to give you a good idea of how they look. I love my IB Denby and it is excellent for everyday use.

We bought some replacements and the colouring has changed. On the bowls it's a much brighter blue than it was and for plates I think they are more speckled.

Thanks, that's helpful. I prefer white without speckles.

@rookiemere I hope I can find the pure white ones with the dark blue colouring.

Mine are white, and the dinner plates aren't deep - but enough to stop gravy running off.
My imperial blue is going strong after 28 years of daily use!

Nomorecoconutboosts · 19/06/2023 12:58

@rookiemere
That’s handy to know as the photos online aren’t always accurate.
On the website currently they seem to look like mine.
However in shops I have seen versions where the blue is lighter and shinier.

Nomorecoconutboosts · 19/06/2023 12:59

@CMOTDibbler
gosh even longer than mine, and you are so right about the gravy…
for a very damp meal such as pasta with loads of sauce we sometimes use the deep cereal bowls.
