Trampoline

5 year old at grandparents house, no net on trampoline. Hubby says I'm being unreasonable and I need to stop 'babying her' and let her play with her cousins. They use the trampoline like this all the time. Advice please

At risk of Broken bones. Needs a net really

Dangerous. Falls from trampolines are high impact because of the "bounce" off.
Also, it is really not safe to let several kids on at the same time. A child near me ended up with a broken neck because a bigger child landed on them. It was too crowded. Bouncy castles are risky too unfortunately.

Ive seen kids in my family suffer terrible injuries from trampolines. I wouldn’t risk it.

Haggisfish3 · 18/06/2023 23:50

It would be a no from me, too.

H ow big is the trampoline? We had a big. 16 ft one at home when I grew up with no net.The only kid who ever fell off was a mollycoddled neighbour. That said I broke my hand ( not from falling off though) but it was a small price to pay for hundreds of hours fun from about 18 months to 17 years old

DP managed to accidentally bounce off one (no net) in his early 20s and split his lip so I probably wouldn't let my young kids go on one without a net!

Neighbours son got a really nasty arm break because he went underneath the trampoline while others were bouncing on it. I think this leans towards not letting them play unsupervised, net or no net.

Aren't trampolines the cause of the majority of child visits to A&E? Definitely too dangerous without a full net enclosure.n

Hubby says I'm being unreasonable and I need to stop 'babying her' and let her play with her cousins.

So when your child is injured on this unsecured piece of equipment will your husband take responsibility to take her to A&E, all subsequent appointments and take time off work to take care of her? Or is his assumption that you will? 🌹

Many injuries with a net

hattyhathat · 19/06/2023 06:30

Right and what's he going to do when she falls off and crushes her spine and ends up in hospital for months?

FreakyPurple · 19/06/2023 06:35

My son fell through a net off a trampoline and fractured his skull. It was the worst day of my life. He was unconscious and on a ventilator for three days. The trampoline was dismantled and chucked out.

Yes it's fun but the risk is too high.
