Father’s Day cards

I know it’s a bit late in the day for this thread (quite literally) but wondering if anyone is in the same boat as me. I have a very dysfunctional relationship with my parents. My dad in particular was incredibly emotionally abusive when I was younger and so I don’t have much contact with him but my parents and siblings all like to pretend to be happy families and act like the bad things never happened so we still end up making an effort on birthdays Christmas etc

Anyway my AIBU is that I hate that when I go to buy a Father’s Day card, because it’s still expected, I always struggle to find one that isn’t ‘Best dad ever’, ‘you’re so awesome’, ‘thanks for everything’.

WHY OH WHY can there not just be a plain happy Father’s Day card? Because he was not as is not the best dad ever, not even close. I’m sure they exist, but I couldn’t find a single one out of about 30 options that didn’t exaggerate how amazing the receiving father is.

Can you get one on moonpig? Or make your own? Glue a photo to a piece of folded a4 and write happy fathers' day on it?

I think they only produce cards for people who feel some affection for the recipient.

Maybe you could buy a blank card and just write something unemotional inside 'To you on Fathers Day. Enjoy your day! From Badabing', if you really feel you have to send something.

I manage to find one that just says Happy Father’s Day every year. Takes a bit of looking amongst all the Best Dad stuff but most places have at least one.
