Weird to send a meme every day?

Guy I was seeing briefly has went AWOL. He has messaged me saying he is struggling with his mental health. I am a social worker so of course said my usual speel.

However, I have been sending him one funny meme a day. He will sometimes like it, sometimes reply and sometimes there will be no response.

I really just want to cheer him up and am terrified that he may hurt himself. I'm sure this is my job brain getting in the way.

I'm starting to wonder now, should I leave him be? Am I being too much?

I have no interest in a relationship with him anymore knowing what I know, at first I thought the memes were a pick me up but now I'm wondering if I'm just a creepy pain in the arse.

What would you do?

Let it go and move on

Do you really want to be in a relationship with a suicidal game-player? I would send him one nice message saying you're here when he's ready to talk, and then back off.

Every day is too much. Just let him know you’re there if he ever needs to talk then leave it.

Unicorn2022 · 18/06/2023 20:38

Definitely leave him be - you don't even know if it was true about his mental health. I've heard that used a few times by male friends as a way of letting down women they were dating gently. A meme a day would be fine for a family member or long term friend but not someone you briefly dated. Just delete his number and forget about him.

I’d have thought your job would actually make you better at spotting manipulative dicks. Just stop.

Thepeopleversuswork · 18/06/2023 20:46

Definitely stop it. Either he genuinely is struggling with his mental health, in which case it might be tactless, or he was using it as an excuse, in which case he will think it’s a bit stalky. Either way really not a good look.
