To expect important documentation be sent registered/recorder delivery

I am a reg nurse and every year have to renew my registration. This year renewed it end of Jan and am still awaiting my registration card with my name and Personal Identification number on it.

Phoned up the Nursing and Midwifery council today who say they sent it 3 weeks ago, so someone somewhere has my registration card. Hope they do not intend to practice under my name!!!

AIBU to expect some of the registration fee I pay every year (£76) to go towards recorded delivery?

NMC do not seem very concerned that my card is lost with personal information on it.

Well, of course you're not unreasonable. Are they going to replace it without any charge to you? Do you have anyone you could complain to? Could you collect a replacement personally?

They will replace it without charge. I cannot collect it personally as the offices are in London and I live in the North West.

What I am most concerned about is if someone has my card and is fraudantly working as a nurse as they have my personal identification number.

The Nursing and Midwifery council has upped our fees to £76 a year. I feel that they could use a little of this amount to ensure safe delivery of important documentation.

Have written a letter to the NMC registration department, but am sure it will be ignored.

What about publications? Do you have a newspaper or magazine dedicated to your profession that you could write to?
