He works at a local gardening centre and does freelance work on his days off. When he first came over, I told him I knew nothing about plants and would appreciate any guidance he'd have re: garden maintenance. He laughed at me and said he was shocked how little I knew about plants, e.g., not knowing the difference between an actual plant and weeds (I've never had a garden before this). Anyway, he arrived hours late today as the gardening centre was short staffed and asked him to work overtime. This meant that he'd been running late to run an important errand for his elderly mother and so had to leave work, tend to his mum, and then go back to the gardening centre to collect my plants and head my way. He did a lovely job to begin with and rushed everything towards the end- fine as I thought I'd get him to correct it on his next visit. Anyway, he's just text me saying I owe him 3 hours pay because he had to go back to the gardening centre before coming to mine?! When I've queried this saying he was already working and I'm not paying him the extra hour, he's not happy and saying if I'd told him what I'd wanted yesterday (while I was working at A&E), he wouldn't have been rushed today!!! Argh. How do I tell him to fuck off? I might not know anything about plants but I'm not thick!
