You can take dogs in the park.
So why not a pet snake!

Is it OK to let your snakes sunbathe in the park? - BBC News

(I don't have a snake and am not sure what I would think if I saw a snake in the park)

Is it OK to let your snakes sunbathe in the park?

A man who takes his snakes to his local public park sparks a debate about what animals are acceptable in public spaces.

I've seen this happen. Chap strolls up with a big coolbox, sits down, opens the coolbox, tips on it side and releases two sizeable pythons. Pythons are lying on the grass in the sun. All good until a woman starts to walk across the grass ...

I guess one of the snakes felt the vibration, because it lifted its head - and all hell broke loose!

It wouldn't bother me, but it's probably not the best idea.

This thread has really cheered me up today. Espethe thought of snakes on leads and playing on the slide.

My DD who hates dogs at the park (especially the ones Just Being Friendly, she doesn't mind the ones that ignore people) would be in seventh heaven if there were actual snakes.

Misses point of thread but I'm now picturing a snake on a collar and lead and figuring out how it wouldn't slip out of it !

"I have no idea how it escaped officer, somehow it managed to slip its lead!"

BTW that ain't no adder!

I used to take my python to the vets in a pillowcase inside my top. I would take a snake to the park in a mesh bag so it could curl up and enjoy the sun.

PrancerandDancer · 20/06/2023 14:39

I'm terrified of snakes but I wouldn't have much issue with this as long as the man had them under control and wasn't trying to force people to engage with them... Probably better behaved in the park than my cocker spaniel

@MedievalMadness >>> takes a small bow and gets pad and pencil out to start designing a snake bridel <<<

Theres obviously a gap in the market for such an invention

Don’t see any problem with it. It’s unlikely any responsible owner is going to take a 16ft Burm to the park because it weighs a tonne for a start, but a 5ft Ball Python? They don’t just run (slither!) off!

Our 16 Burm weighs 25-30 kilos. We took him, a few Royal pythons and a couple of cornsnakes to the park last weekend - but it was an organised event.

roarrfeckingroar · 20/06/2023 14:54

I would truly truly hate this but I guess some people are very scared of dogs so 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’d have loved to have seen something like that. I love snakes, only ever had Royals though!
