Curious to know people's thoughts.
Are people really less polite now, or has it always been the case?
Examples I notice regularly enough:
- People not tidying up after having a picnic, party or being at a festival. Just leaving their mess and trash as a complete afterthought.
- Throwing cigarettes or wrappers out of car windows.
- Listening to music out loud on public transport or in cars at very loud volumns.
- Not standing for someone elderly or a pregnant woman on public transport.
- Not moving out of the way when you cross paths.
- Allowing children to be loud, rude or interrupt conversations.
- Owning dogs but not training them well, so they bark constantly or bound up to children or other dogs.
I'm only in my 30s so can't tell if it's me or if the world around me really is changing. I always noticed rude and horrible behaviour when I was in school (which was awful) but not really in the wider world. I guess those kids grew up!
YABU - People have always been this way.
YANBU - People are less polite now.
