To ask for hive mind help

A family member has left an item at the airport on a Spanish island. It isn’t hugely valuable but is important to get back, and isn’t physically large. An international courier company have said that they can’t help because it’s not packed up with an address on it, and the airport people won’t package it up. Oh wise MNers - how do we get it back without getting on a plane to fetch it?!

Only thing I can think of is to hire a PA in the same town as the airport and pay them to drive there, collect it, parcel it up and send it to you?

Or do a new post asking if any lovely Mumsnetters are flying into XXX airport soon?

Maybe an airport taxi service would collect it?

Maybe start by saying what it is and where it is because at the moment you sound like someone looking for a mule.

If you're not looking for someone to bring it back what are you hoping for? What is it?

You need the Spanish equivalent of task rabbit to pay someone to collect the item, package it and take it to the courier company.

Start a post with the title "is anyone going to be at xxx airport in the next few weeks who could bring something back for me" or something like that.

Op isn't asking gur a person to bring it back, just someone to collect it, package and address it and drop it off with the courier company.

Is she asking that? It's all very vague. And if she won't say the airport or what it is then that's not going to happen is it?

If you say "it's at Palma de Mallorca airport" then perhaps someone can collect it to you. Spanish island is too vague! Canaries? Ibiza?

Thanks for the sensible suggestions. I wasn’t looking for anyone on here to collect it - just looking for any ideas of a type of business that could help, given that normal courier companies won’t help.

It might be cheaper/ quicker for the owner to just book a cheap return flight to the airport. Rather than all this brainpower spent on hatching a plan to get the item back.

If a courier company won't help and the airport won't help and you won't tell us where it is then how can we help?
