To send a picture of my pubic region to the surgeon who did my c section?

I work in an industry where we craft things and then sometimes don’t ever see them develop. I love it when a client sends a photo.

Am a year on from my C and honestly so impressed with it. My surgeon was like da Vinci with a thread and needle. It is absolutely perfect and I want to send my thanks.

Any surgeons out there? Would you like to see your handiwork again or is this totally bizarre and you don’t want random pictures of peoples pubis region! 🤣

YANBU - send the pube pic
YABU - no one wants to see that

Wtf?! Just no, he won't be interested, he probably does hundreds every year 🤦🏻‍♀️

And you might get into trouble for sending unsolicited pictures of your nether regions.

MyFaceIsAnAONB · 13/06/2023 21:41

Er, no. She sees enough every day I’m sure 😄

Yoyooo · 13/06/2023 21:41

I'm sure a thank you card would suffice 🙂

Infusionist · 13/06/2023 21:42

Write a nice note perhaps?

I know what you mean though - the surgeon who did DD1’s c section was clearly a genius. But no flipping way would it be appropriate to send a pic!

KitchenSinkLlama · 13/06/2023 21:42

No. Just no.

Doctor but not a surgeon. You don’t NEED to send a pic but it might well raise a smile! It would be so nice to send a card saying how pleased you are with it though and a thank you. We love that stuff for our offices and our appraisals!

Incognito2023 · 13/06/2023 21:47

Lovely to send a thank you note/card saying how well the scar has healed and how pleased you are. Healthcare professionals don’t get enough of these and they are highly valued.
(you could offer to send a pic if they would like to see their results a year on but don’t send one without being asked)

LemonSwan · 13/06/2023 21:50

Well I was just about to type good thing I asked! 🤣

But now I have a doctor posting saying may not be so weird afterall 🤷‍♀️

Not sure I wish to be pinned on an office wall though! 😂😂😂

Also a doc and not a surgeon. On the bad days knowing that I'd made a difference to you that you still appreciated would help.

OhBackToTheIsland · 13/06/2023 22:05

Not a doctor but another HCP and would absolutely love this. Nothing weird about it at all, not even if you included a photo (assuming not a full frontal shot).

They used their scalpel to cut through skin, and subcutaneous tissue without stabbing the baby, removed your baby safely, sewed your uterus and all the other stuff back up without you getting any infection, or bits of your body falling out and you think they're going to feel proud that you are grateful for your delight at the cosmetic benefits of the neat stitching?

Is that your take-away from the process?

Can we see a pic, you could blur out any unwanted bits

On both my episiotomy and my C section the surgeons (rightly) admired their cosmetic handiwork with the stitching. The reason it looks good is because they’ve done the whole process very skilfully.

FFS. When my mum had a c section the surgeon did such a great job because he said he wanted her to be happy in her in her bikini on the beach again. She was delighted with it (and probably still is) and used to talk about the care he took every summer!

Well yes a year on that’s what I am looking at. And my baby boy too obviously 😂

I hope the insides are as good but I can’t actually see that (or would have any idea what I am looking at! 😬)

Fingers crossed they are! These stories of uteruses ripping open terrify the life out of me. 😱

If it’s debated whether I can send it to the surgeon who did it. Not sure it’s the done thing to post it on here haha 😂

I personally don’t care and would happily have it framed and put up in the Tate. As I said so impressed with it! It’s literally a work of art.

I feel the same about DDs umbilical hernia scar. He said we'd love it and he's right! It's a tiny smile under her belly button - unlike my 10 cm straight line!

EightMonthsScared · 13/06/2023 22:47

For complex reasons (long story short, my baby was taken straight to a children's hospital hours from where I live) I didn't have c section aftercare, and had to keep sending pics of the scar/wound to a midwife so she could check I was healing okay.

A few days after my c section, me and DH were in a cafe having breakfast.

I got a Google alert asking if I wanted to leave a review of the cafe we were in. It also suggested that I posted a picture i'd recently taken, alongwith my review. The suggested pic was one of my C Section photos. I found it darkly, darkly funny. 😂

Takemyhandwreckmyplans · 13/06/2023 22:59

The community midwife complimented me on my csection wound when she came to check. She was so enthusiastic, verging on gushing over how great it looked a few days pp.

I hadn't looked as I was expecting a horror show, but she was insistent how great it looked so she took a photo on my phone to show me and I have to say it was indeed very well done. I've got worse scars off my cats than the scar the surgeon left.

I did think it was a bit of a weird thing to want to compliment someone on at the time so I didn't; but I totally get where you're coming from op. The doctors are incredibly skilled at what they do and I was so grateful to have a wound that healed so easily.

LemonSwan · 13/06/2023 23:00

@EightMonthsScared
Haha that really made me chuckle! Imagine if you accidentally had 😱

@PlantFood
And I love that. Sounds so cute 🥰 Glad there’s others on here who get what I mean. It’s a nice feeling.

The surgeons on my second elective were hugely complimentary about the work of the surgeon from the first, and made a point of saying they would try to be a good (and they were!)

Ooo that’s good! They set the bar. I have been thinking I can’t be this lucky next time round but you have given me a slither of hope lol 😂

OP I think sending a photo would be weird.
