Universal credit question

Veeveer · 12/06/2023 10:35

Currently I receive universal credit and I asked for it to be paid every fortnight but my payment was made to me on the 9th and I really don’t think the fortnightly payments will suit me as I now have an unexpected cost. Does anyone know if I contact universal credit can they pay me my second half which is due in two weeks time or is it too late to change it

You will receive the second payment on the day your are meant to receive it, if you have the more frequent payments stop this will apply to your next fill AP

You get your UC based on when it’s due according to them , not you, it’s not yours until it meets the criteria when the due date comes. You can’t ask for it early, you can’t dictate when you want it…it’s up to them. It’s not like you have actually earned it but even then if you had your employer would pay you when they tell you they will pay you not before or early because you want it. 🙄

Ok thanks. I’ve only just started claiming it after being made redundant after my place of work closed down and I asked UC for fortnightly payments to be set up. My First payment was due yesterday but came early because it was the weekend. I will change it for next month

Just think carefully op, had you not asked for fortnightly payment then you wouldn't have got yesterdays payment as it's paid in arrears. So your next payment will also be a two week sum. If you then change it by my understanding you'll have to then wait a month for your next payment. Make sure you can manage for that month following any change.
