I have drunk quite a quantity of gin.

I don’t want to feel like death tomorrow.

I am currently fizzing a berocca in a pint of water before I go to bed.

Should I have added a second tablet?

Is there anything else I can do to be my future friend?

Anything with ginger is great for settling your stomach - ginger biscuits or ginger tea if you have it work wonders!

Mummyoflittledragon · 10/06/2023 22:03

You could also drink marmite or bovril. Both very salty. As others have said, eating marmite is good.

SeaToSki · 10/06/2023 22:04

as above plus

leave a large water and a snack on your bedside table and make sure there is nothing in the path between your bed and the toilet (worst case scenario!)

close your curtains and put your phone on charge

if you have a really really good friend, send them a text now letting them know you might need rescuing with an emergency Maccies breakfast at about 10am tomorrow

LittleFreakJezebel · 10/06/2023 22:04

Water water water, something stodgy and salty and then more water

Veryfishy · 10/06/2023 22:04

2slices of buttered toast and drink loads of water now
Take a big glass of cold water with you when you go to bed

Justchooseone · 10/06/2023 22:04

This isn’t a last minute remedy but - vitamin b supplements. Also repel mosquitos!!

unsync · 10/06/2023 22:04

Alka seltzer In the Berocca, then repeat in the morning.

PrancerandDancer · 10/06/2023 22:06

Yes to carbs and a lot of water

I went out for the first time in a very long while last night and had two glasses of water before bed and some toast woke up right as rain

Did have a very carby tea too which probably helped

AtomicBlondeRose · 10/06/2023 22:08

A cup of decaf tea before bed always seems to help. And definitely water when you wake in the night - I’ve woken at 4 for a wee before, felt like death, forced myself to stand at the kitchen sink and drink a full glass of water, and woken in the morning feeling right as rain! Magic!

ThePlacesYouWillGo123 · 10/06/2023 22:09

I swear by travel sickness tablets. Just before sleep to stop the spinning sensation. Always wake up without a hangover

Travellingwillow · 10/06/2023 22:12

AlphaAlpha · 10/06/2023 21:55

Forget all the above.

You need diaorlyte.

One sachet in water before bed, you'll be right as ninepence int morning.

I am also a dioralyte voter. Don't really drink much now but this was my go to. In its absence a bag of ready salted crisps and a banana and a load of water. Salt potassium fluids and carbs.

Tigofigo · 10/06/2023 22:15

Protein too - could have eggs on marmite toast

Probiotics worth a try

Water and electrolytes are a must

specialsauce · 10/06/2023 22:15

ibuprofen first thing in the morning

Frabbits · 10/06/2023 22:18

Taking paracetamol to ward off a hangover is a stupid idea. You've just consumed alcohol, which your liver is working to metabolise and so taking paracetamol just means your liver has to work harder.

By the time you wake up any pain relief you would have got from the tablets would have worn off so all you are doing is giving your liver more work and if you have really gone to town with the booze you are going to make yourself feel more sick if you take paracetamol and you increase the risk of damaging your liver. Plus if you are really pissed the chances of you overdosing go up as well.

Nomorebeer22 · 10/06/2023 22:25

Full fat coke or lemonade in a pint glass. 80/20% juice and water. Down it then make another pint to take to bed for during the night.

Thats our go to in this house.

PawPatrolDrivesMeInsane · 10/06/2023 22:33

I have no idea what the magic remedy is OP, but watching with interest!

Skyrim41 · 10/06/2023 22:37

Oh yeah do not take paracetamol when you drink heavily!!

ToeJammed · 10/06/2023 22:41

If I know that I'm going to be drinking alcohol on a night out, then I always have a cheese sandwich with a large glass of milk before I go out. Then a pint of water and a cheese sandwich ( already prepped ) when I return.
I can be absolutely steaming, but I've never suffered a hangover since first doing this donkeys years ago.

bonfirebash · 10/06/2023 22:43

I drink about once a year and my last hangover was so bad the room was spinning at 10am and I fell over getting out of bed Blush
It took toast, coffee, litres of water and a chinese food delivery before I felt vaguely normal

GG1986 · 10/06/2023 22:58

Someone once told me to open a can of sprite or 7up before you go out and drink it all when you get home before bed. Never tried it myself, but apparently helps.

scienceteacher101 · 10/06/2023 23:00

Ease off all the drug suggestions. Water, carbs and cheese. Before bed, again if you wake and in the morning. Sorted. Drugs only in the morning if really needed for head.

LittleRedYarny · 10/06/2023 23:12

Crashtestdumdum · 10/06/2023 21:44

ooh I like the sound of cheese and crackers. Unfortunately only have babybel so not sure that would do the trick.

Will add two paracetamol to my berocca, thanks!

Babybel will work - it’s the fat content of cheese that slows your absorption of the alcohol

LittleFreakJezebel · 10/06/2023 23:17

I'm refreshed that this thread has gone nearly 2 hours without you being accused of clearly being an alcoholic.

Cas112 · 10/06/2023 23:18

A fizzy drink before bed.. as well as a pint of water
