To think Vinted are unreasonable for this?

I bought a lovely black maxi dress off vinted for a garden party. What has arrived is a short blue play suit two sizes too small. I messaged seller and they admitted they may have put the wrong item in the wrong bag when selling.

Now vinted are saying that I need to pay to return it to the seller? And this amount will be deducted from my refund? How is this right when it isn’t my fault- I also paid for buyer protection so I’d be covered.

it just feels like a scam all round? Anyone else had this?

Well yeah that is annoying but I couldn't get too wound up about it

purpleme12 · 10/06/2023 16:13

I would be wound up about it! Why should OP have money taken off her?!

Happened to DH but they refunded him.

Very annoying. It should be the sellers responsibility. They should send you the right item. And pay for postage if they want the wrong item back. This is what I expected from the buyers protection. But it happened to me too. Bought something "brand new, unopened, box in mint condition". But the box was damaged. I agreed with the seller that indeed he made a mistake and I would send it back. But sending it back cost me. Quite a lot too actually. How is that fair

Can that be right? I can understand that you need to pay to return. It would be good if that was refunded to you but I can understand if it won’t be.

However I can’t understand why they’d deduct the postage again? Is that to pay to send the right thing out?

NoSquirrels · 10/06/2023 16:17

Can’t you agree with the seller to send it back, get the refund, then have them sell you the item again but at a price that accounts for a discount for the postage etc?

MyPrettyLittlePony · 10/06/2023 16:20

I find this so frustrating, and puts me of using Vinted, I’ve had items arrive in terrible condition, won my ‘case’ and then been expected to cover the postage costs to return, makes me so annoyed especially when I pay like you for ‘buyers protection’ what’s even the point in it? Grr.

Startyabastard · 10/06/2023 16:23

Luckily the buyer has always paid when I've received faulty items.

Vinted arrange the postage, and pay for it but deduct that cost from your refund so you are effectively paying for it.

WhatsitWiggle · 10/06/2023 16:23

I'd ask the seller to cover the return postage, it's their error.

Presumably someone else has received your dress when expecting a playsuit?
