Neighbour and power tools one

We have a neighbour behind our house who uses something like an angle grinder in his garden.
I hear it three or four days a week, weekdays and weekends, for around three to five lots of ten minutes on each day.

not DIY I think, it relates to his work.

I am really sensitive to noise and also don’t like these neighbours for other reasons, so it’s a genuine question- I find it hard to gauge what is reasonable here.

YABU - the noise seems acceptable
YANBU - it’s not okay and you could take action

thank you

40min spread across 3 to 4 10min sessions , and 3 to 4 days a week doesnt seem worth getting annoyed about

YABU, as long as it is being used at reasonable hours people are allowed to make noise in their gardens.

You are possibly being over sensitive due to the fact that your history.

Your sensitivity to noise is for you to deal with unfortunately and not your neighbours problem.

deathbyhayfever · 10/06/2023 13:19

If it's DIY, unfortunately you have to grin and bear it.

It's it's business related in a residential area, I am sure there are rules against that, check with your council.

Monikkas · 10/06/2023 13:20

If it’s a business there’s definitely rules, hobby or diy nothing you can do

Nolongera · 10/06/2023 13:29

Angle grinders are noisy a chuff, I wouldn't be happy.

How many angles does he need to grind?

40 minutes a day for 3 or 4 days a week?! YABU. Your sensitivity to noise is for you to deal with, not your neighbour.

If it was 4 hours a day, you might have a point.

It’s not just you, that would drive me mad and I speak from experience. However, unless it’s happening at unsociable hours, there’s very little you can do about it.
