Molluscum contagiosm

I remember reading a thread a while back about effective ways to treat this. Can’t find the thread anymore and now my child is plagued with them! Does anyone have any good advice/ treatments or remedies that worked for them? I know the doctor won’t do much unless they are infected. Posting in AIBU as that’s where I saw the last thread. Thanks in advance.

We were told repeatedly by several dermatologists my daughter had mollusucm but it was warts in the end. And again time for the only solution. Went away eventually. Soo annoying at the time. She had one in the middle of her forehead poor thing.

Caesious · 09/06/2023 20:02

Nothing worked for us and my boy was covered. The doctor ended up telling us to squeeze the biggest one and what came out was so big, like a grain of rice!
The rest had disappeared within a week after having battled them for over a year.
We had a couple of reoccurrences but as soon as a new one came up, we popped it and it never spread. Not a single scar either thank goodness!

Gymmum82 · 09/06/2023 20:02

We used molludab it got rid of them but it was pretty awful. Her skin has never been right since

Mygirlsmyworld001 · 09/06/2023 20:10

Lemon mertle soap, molludab was painful on her skin,

Pleasegodgotosleep · 09/06/2023 20:16

Crystacide cream is a wonder. We tried everything else, molludab, silver, tee-tree etc after 3 years (!) The crystacide cream did the trick. Once they started clearing they were gone in 3 weeks.

Unfortunately my dd has quite extensive scarring but hoping it will fade as she grows.

sunsunsunsunx · 09/06/2023 20:23

My dd has had them for around 4 months. I've just bought that Mollubad and hoping it works. They are everywhere. I'm scared in case the mollubad scars and he's already saying it burns

Nothingisblackandwhite · 09/06/2023 20:29

tea tree oil will cure it fast , put it neat with cotton buds only on the affected areas

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 09/06/2023 20:33

Ours just went with time.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 09/06/2023 20:35

Time. Once one went, every nightly bath we were like "oh that one's gone too". Had them for 3 years then gone within two weeks.

wouldthatbeworse · 09/06/2023 20:35

Molludab and time. Prob 18 months from start to finish. We did manage to avoid not infecting the other child by being careful with bath water and towels or perhaps luck. They’re gross but generally harmless

RhubarbAndMustard · 09/06/2023 20:35

My son has this and it's only this thread that has made me realise he hasn't had any for a while! Definitely do go with time. Think it's been about 18 months. We just left them alone.

VestaTilley · 09/06/2023 20:36

What fresh hell is this?!

BreakfastClub80 · 09/06/2023 20:41

We used Dr Wheatgrass products, and it cleared very quickly. I did try something else that burnt them away but that gave a lot of scarring sadly.

CatticusFinch · 09/06/2023 20:46

Molludab, showers not baths, change PJs every night (DD's would pop and then spread it to other places). I was at the end of my tether but the molludab did the trick.

TolkiensFallow · 09/06/2023 20:51

I had it as an adult really badly across my thighs. Tried everything but what actually worked was time and I went on holiday somewhere sunny, went in the sea and sun bathed, cleared it right up!

Smil3 · 09/06/2023 20:53

My DS currently has this, we tried a few different things with little success until we got Dr Wheatgrass spray. It's not a quick fix but after 3 weeks spraying the area every day they are clearing up nicely with no new ones appearing.

BellesandWhistles223 · 09/06/2023 22:58

Another vote for colloidal silver - we tried loads of different things and this was the one that solved it for both my kids

SabrinaThwaite · 09/06/2023 23:26

We did cider vinegar - soak a small cotton wool ball and tape it on. Took a few months but they went (with no scarring). They are fuckers.

dameofdilemma · 10/06/2023 15:03

Molludab. We tried leaving them to go by themselves (only advice GP had) but they got worse, spread, became infected as DD itched them and developed eczema..

We used steroid cream for the eczema at the same time as the molludab.

It's not pleasant, the molludab stings, but catch them early before they spread.

ladyofshertonabbas · 10/06/2023 15:09

I second aggravating or squeezing the main one, depending on willingness of the sufferer. Once that’s gone, they should all go. Weird white ball inside. Such a crazy condition.

TooTrusting · 10/06/2023 15:48

Another one for colloidal silver here. This was 18 years ago and there was nothing else on the market. I'm they were all covered and they used to get infected. I had to import it from abroad and it worked very quickly.

Spongecake556 · 02/07/2023 20:34

Thank to all for your replies.

ordered the molludab- he wouldn’t bear it (too stingy) so got the Dr wheatgrass- amazing! Has cleared them up in the past few weeks. Still scars/ marks left but nothing that looks active anymore!
will continue to use (as it’s natural) until the scars/ marks have gone.
Mumsnet at its best! Thanks to all of the replies.

Just adding to others, but time! My sons went away after about 4 months.

Allmyghosts · 02/07/2023 20:56

So weird I have only ever heard of this thing on mumsnet Confused mysterious

wonderinglywondering · 02/07/2023 21:00

Molludab did nothing for us except burn and make DD cry.

popping the queen while she was asleep so the white core comes out Envy makes the immune system realise what’s going on and they all turn red, pop and disappear.
